Well, you and hchutch are doing what you think best. I have told you both I don't agree.

I have been here since 1998, and I am not leaving. I may elect to not post for a while when the nutters are on the loose, but I feel if we all leave this forum the media will use the weirdos as examples of conservatism.

Who are the nutters?

Those who said that Jeb Bush is guilty of murder.
Those who accuse the President of desiring illegal immigrants.
Those who are convinced that the President is in collusion with Bill Clinton.

I could give more examples, but I don't want to waste the time on such a sad day.

However, I am going to stick around and post as I see fit. I am a pretty tough old grandma, and no one is going to drive me out.

I must've missed those threads...I bet they got a bit hair-raising, lol!

I don't understand why JR and the mods tolerated some of that stuff. Certainly they couldn't agree with it, could they? Some of those posters are certifiable.

I just think the Bush brothers were "reached" when it came to the Schiavo matter because they were both poised to act then suddenly shut up, sat down, feet on the floor, hands folded neatly in their laps.

Valid points Miss Marple. I think the whole Terri thing got people way too nutty. Personally I was sick of the whole thing. I'm glad she's in God's hands now and beyond the reach of the circus.

On a couple of occasions, I said my peace on the issue but didn't seem to get flamed for it [I was for everyone staying out of a family's difficult & heartbraking business]. And having been on the net since 1979, I was quite prepared for it. Perhaps it was not so much my words but my tone. In any case, I agree that we cannot allow this forum to be overrun by the single issue, can't think critically, fringe of whatever they are.

Conservatism is SUPPOSED to be better than that!

Poohbah, if you're still listening; I'll be sorry to see you go, we need those with solid minds to fight the good fight, and you're just one of those that we need.

Keep the faith Marine!

"Those who said that Jeb Bush is guilty of murder. Those who accuse the President of desiring illegal immigrants. Those who are convinced that the President is in collusion with Bill Clinton."

Two out of three ain't bad.

I'd be open for a second venue, an alternative site, if someone were to identify one.

So far that hasn't happened.

That leaves it up to those believing themselves to be ... whatever Poohbah thinks Poohbah to be ... to stay and hold the center.

Having said that, disallowing posts that do not support GWB's partisan stance on illegal immigration amounts to censorship - I guess that means FR is moving away from the fringes and into the (gasp) mainstream.

Oddly enough, i ceased posting at Lucianne's site because the discourse had become too nasty and contrived;
now they are too clubby and structured and folks are abandoning FR for ....for...?

I've only been here for about six months and I see a lot of 'tow the line lock step mentality' displayed by a number of FReepers - Many of them long time members who somehow feel that they have the right to tell others just what a good conservative should think and how they should post.

I suppose you would disapprove of me, calling me a 'Nutter' because I disagree with the Presidents stance on Immigration. Likewise, you and many long term FReepers would undoubtedly dislike my stance on the Schiavo matter as well. I could go on and on but I can tell you, from my perspective, a conservative but not Partisan Zealot who places principle over partisanship would appear likely to be flamed by many here, especially those who have staked out some kind of ownership over the thought and posting processes at FR. I've both seen it and experienced it first hand.

Talk about eating each other. At times this place puts DU to shame on that score.

A 'nutter' is signing off for awhile here. Hope you all enjoy your exclusive party.
