Kerry gets tough...
Good Morning!
Finally made it to north Alabama tonight. Doesn't look good for Mobile. The storm's heading up here tomorrow. It won't be anything like it was down there, but we may lose power here for a couple of days.....hope not! I mean, a gal's gotta keep up with Rathergate & the Ryder Cup.
Everyone's completely worn out from preparing for the storm, the long drive and the stress and anxiety. I'm watching til the eye goes over Mobile, then I'm going to bed for a long time. See y'all tomorrow. (Thanks to everyone for the pings!)

Prayers going out to all in Ivan's path...

Vote for Bush or this is your next first lady. |
Good Morning. Thanks for the Timeout Update. Somehow I missed that post.
Tornados appear to be the current risk.
Prayers to Timeout. Thank goodness Ivan hit at a CAT3, but Mobile looks a mess.
Good morning. So far it looks like a mess in Mobile, but not the catastrophic destruction we so feared. TV shows power still on in spots...that would be impossible if it had hit with the force of Frederick 25 yrs ago. It took Mobile about 6 years to recover from that one. Still could be bad, but my worst fears were avoided as things look now.
HLL, if you see any good articles or photos of the Ryder Cup, will you please FRmail me?
Thanks for checking in.
The Ryder Cup it ain't but this site should provide some yucks for a hurricane weary soul. Enjoy.

Here now, this important character assessment quoted from a neighbor of Bill Burkett in the NYT's:
Mr. Mendez said he had known Mr. Burkett for a few years and recently lent him a valuable tool.
"In my opinion - which is no more than I have known him - I feel that he is truthful and whatnot,'' the neighbor said. "He has always treated me fair."
LOL!!
I looks like the eye went right over the condo in Gulf Shores/Ft. Morgan. I'm really wondering how much of that area is going to be left.
Glad that you're out of harm's way.
Best thoughts on your property.
I'm glad she checked in, I was concerned. Prayers for everyone in the path of the storm.
September 16, 2004 -- PRINCESS Michael of Kent continues to roil New Yorkers with her imperious ways particularly the doormen at the Park Avenue building where she is freeloading.
"We've watched her get out of cabs, clearly arguing with the driver and shrieking at the doorman, 'Pay the man!' before stomping off," one resident of the apartment tower snorted.
"She doesn't give the doorman any money, so he eats her taxi charge."
The Teutonic titleholder, known in London as Princess Pushy, made headlines earlier this year when she ordered a tableful of high-powered blacks at Da Silvano to quiet down.
But she denies reports that she told them they should "go back to the colonies."
She's been staying lately in a ground-floor apartment provided by a wealthy friend. But she isn't making any new friends in the building with her insistence on silence.
"The apartment is just off the lobby," said a neighbor who requested anonymity. "Over a period of time she has come storming out of the apartment and screamed at little kids." Continued at PageSix
Is Princess Michael in NYC to teach Hillary the royal way? (Or, is it the other way around?)
According to Time magazine's latest poll, the president has retained the "seismic voter shift" he earned during the Republican convention. He continues to lead John Kerry by eleven points among likely voters. Kerry's support has eroded in every group, and "most notably among women," as Time points out. "In early August, females gave Kerry a sizable lead over Bush: 50 to 36 percent. Now, women favor Bush over Kerry by 45 to 44 percent. Even in Florida, Kerry's 22 percent lead among women has been halved in the last few weeks. In the last presidential election, Gore won women's votes 54 to 42 percent. Continued
And Alec Baldwin in an interview last night said he felt badly for Colin Powell, having gotten caught up with Bush and all, "he had such a terrific career."
Can't you just see the princess telling Bill to "keep it down"? :-)
