Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Still round the corner we may meet...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Someone's HO-scale train model just bit the dust...

There goes my stock in Tyco--looks like I picked the wrong day to quit smoking. . .oops, wrong disaster movie quote :)

OT: have considered the 'dead load' rating of your deck? Fountain, planting beds, corn, potatoes, flowers, catnip, misc. all adds up. :-)

Hmm--according to a geologist being interviewed on the show, it turns out there's methane bubbles under the Bermuda Triangle--interesting. . .

I actually liked Earthquake, though watching it today and looking back at the 1970s dress styles kind of cracks me up; plus I can't watch that without thinking Charleton Heston just hopped over into that movie right after finishing Omega Man and it was filmed on the same set :)

Best disaster movie I've seen was Poseidon Adventure, I think.

And the President says, "By the time the left hands figures out what the right hand is doing, this will have blown up on all our faces!"

Script writer! Script writer! <no one responds> Script hack? Alan Smithee?? A third grader with an eraser??? Anybody????

I can't watch any Irwin Allen disaster flick without remembering the satires of them done on SCTV, years ago.

"Inferno! Towwwwering inferno!"

Hehehe....don't plan on planting corn and potatoes. Just herbs, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and flowers....and hopefully a fountain. Anyway....it's got only one storey to fall!

Nah, the girl in Earthquake was a sweet single mom who was boinking Charlton Heston's character.

This girl, Bo's daughter, is slutty.

My biggest complaint about Poseidon Adventure is they had Roddy McDowell in it but didn't let him live to the end--he would've been way more entertaining than Gene Hackman! I also remember that movie had the one balding Italian actor with the raspy voice who played a mobster in every other movie/TV show in the 70s but I could never remember his name. He was kind of like one of those actors who showed up on Love Boat and Fantasy Island and you know you've seen them somewhere but you can't remember where. . .

You're not too late! The Big One hasn't happened yet... I figure we got another 45-60 minutes of buildup!

LOL! I don't know if I ever saw that SCTV skit, but it seems like I saw a spoof of Towering Inferno somewhere.

How about Meteor?--they managed to squeeze all the washed-up actors of the decade into that one :)
