Most fines were dropped, but one remained and the legal bill outweighed the fines.
That many council members didn’t know that the man had a sister shows that many council members aren’t locals, but the result of the town growth over the last 40 years.
Where I live, only locals will be voted onto council. To be local, you need at least one set of grandparents buried within the township (this is more liberal than the traditional line, which would expect all four, but might tolerate three).
Given that environment, unless you are not a local, family connections can be taken as known.

The answer is to mobilize and organize the children and their parent to go after the Children, Grand Children, Nieces and nephews of EVERY PUBLIC EMPLOYEE, especially the police. Photograph and videotape every last infraction they commit and DEMAND they be punished. Force these children from the Public School system with ridicule...
The whole incident is ridiculous. Any code enforcement officer has better things to do rather than getting involved in this action. What grandparents would not support their grandchild in supporting the girlscouts?!
Fire whoever was incolved in that summons!

Agree. It made economic sense to just pay the one fine. She did block a public sidewalk. Why pay a lawyer more than the fine.
Wouldn’t that be harassment? I mean if we are going to stretch every law...
Teton County, home of Jackson Hole, is the bluest in Wyoming followed by Albany County, home of the University of Wyoming. All the other counties in the state are red.
This one is close enough to Jackson Hole that even if the county itself hasn’t gone blue, the county seat (and “metropolitan area”) may have.
Consider how much damage — physical and mental — that has been done by people who attempt to justify their behavior by the mantra: “I’m just doing my job” .... as if “doing their job” is a valid excuse for not thinking; a valid excuse for not at least considering other factors.
I was just going to point out the same thing.
But it makes no sense that the officer gal didn’t just tell the mom what codes she was violating instead of pretending it was no big deal and then fining her mega-bucks.
They are about $200 and a number of hours of time worse off—but the government is a lot worse off and may think twice before trying that again.
Merely advancing one’s own short-term economic good isn’t always the best course of action.
I hope that a couple of the new folks on counsel get turfed and the cop gets a priority adjustment.
Many years ago we did a roadside sale on a holiday but didn’t get a permit. A cop pulls up as soon as we got started. We all thought he was going to shut us down. Instead he spent $100 on something for his wife. Lol.
What’s 200? You mean $200/hr.? An attorney where I live costs at least $400 for a traffic ticket . Some things are not worth it your time energy or money. The woman in this case agreed.she raised the issue got some satisfaction so good for her.
Since this is a member of the Girl Scouts I don’t mind.
If it was alternative to the GSA, I would mind.
I won’t buy Girl Scout cookies anymore since they went full support for queer, but this appears to be ridiculous.
