The idea conveyed is that he gave the power as “gifts” to protect themselves. While the pure tradition/mysticism he gave to Isaac.
While we’re on “what is known about Abraham,” does your church believe he smashed his father’s idols? Or that Nimrod threw him into a fire (which he miraculously survived,) or any of what the Jewish Midrash (commentary) calls the ten trials of Abraham? (Culminating in the binding of Isaac.)
Never even heard of those myths surrounding Abraham. Why would anyone even bother to learn such obscure stuff like that? Why would the church bother to consider it or teach it? What practical use is it to anyone?
Who would even care and why?
