As President Trump continues to dominate the 2024 GOP presidential primaries, attention has turned to who he will pick as his running mate. Now, we have a list of names Trump and his team are reportedly considering, but a potential wild card lurks.
On Thursday, Axios published an extensive piece detailing the potential makeup of a Trump Cabinet in a second term. The 45th President and his team’s primary focus is ensuring all positions in government will be filled with people loyal to the America-first agenda and Trump.
As Gateway Pundit readers know, Trump’s first term was marred by disloyal RINOs and globalists seeking to sabotage him at every turn. John Bolton, Mark Esper, and William Barr were some of the most notorious figures.
Axios also reveals that Trump openly speaks to his friends about several possibilities for running mate. The key consideration outlined by Trump and his closest confidants is agreeing that the 2020 Presidential election was stolen and former Vice-President Mike Pence betrayed the country by allowing the election’s certification.
According to Axios, here are the four individuals under the most serious discussion by Trump and most trusted advisers:
** Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) – Axios notes he might prefer to remain in the U.S. Senate.
** Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who served as the White House Press Secretary from 2017 to 2019.
** Former TV anchor and current 2024 Arizona GOP Senate Candidate Kari Lake
** South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem
The outlet also notes Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) desires the running mate position.
Trump and his team have also mentioned Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).
But in an interesting twist, former First Lady Melania Trump is pushing for her husband to select former Fox News host and X/Twitter star Tucker Carlson. Moreover, she would reportedly be willing to campaign cross-country for the ticket.
From Axios:

“Give it to Lake. She got burned by these lying misfits just like Trump...”

Presuming Trump is the nominee, he will demand unquestioning loyalty from his running mate, to the point where they are reduced to being a non-entity. As such, I don’t see any credible elected Republican with executive status (such as Glenn Youngkin) willing to be reduced to being a subservient yes man (or woman). I thought he may be inclined to look at Haley, but his new name for her is “bird brain” (not exactly a ringing endorsement).
Regarding Lake, her entire career has been one of reading a teleprompter. Please recall that as recently as 2012 she was contributing to and supporting Barack Obama.
Alan West? He was swept in during the 2010 Tea Party wave, but couldn’t win re-election in FL after a single term. He eventually moved to Texas, made a mess of the State GOP which he took over briefly, and went down in flames when he inexpicably ran against Greg Abbot last year. He talks a good game, but has no leadership skills (like Alan Keyes from a prior generation).
It’s because they want action to see something actually get done. She can’t understand why everyone keeps complaining about Mayorkas but no one is willing to do the only thing they can do to stop him, impeachment or 0 out the budget. It seems reckless in politics but in the real world it is completely logical. People outside of government get that perspective.
Ohhhhhh…..
That’s who has been calling.
“Rand Paul should be in the VP discussion.”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Rand Paul has a too strong character. It would produce conflict with Trump. You can’t put two “Roosters” together in the same box.
Ideally Trump would need a woman as VP.
I’m not sure my ears could handle any more parrots squawking:
“They aren’t a natural born citizen!”
“They aren’t a natural born citizen!”
I'd love to see Nikki or Vivek as VP if for no other reason than to see the NBC kooks heads go 'asplodin here.
Trump would never have picked Pence but his handlers probably told him that Pence is considered the “nice guy” and would be the “opposite of Trump” so that is why Trump picked him..to be the so called nice guy..but Pence turned out to be a complete weasel
The VP isn’t second in command. Thr VP should to what he or she is told and nothing else. Trump gave Pence a lot of respect and authority but really had no obligation to do so.
That’s so silly. Barack Obama was President, that genie is out of the bottle. SCOTUS hasn’t even ruled on it so to say it’s unconstitutional is, at best, just a strongly held belief. Vivek could allow Trump to run as a statesmen as Vivek lauches bombs. Not saying that is the best strategy but it’s an option. Don’t let them lull MAGA into a false sense of Security. Let’s take care of the primaries first. No air to Birdbrain and Desanctimonius.

I’m glad you mentioned Vivek because I like his style a lot.
Wasn’t West kind of a carpetbagger for Texas?
Afterall, he had been a congressman in Florida until he got redistricted out of a job.
Ben Carson comes across as sleepy and drunk on TV.

Carson is 72 years old. He deserves his retirement. We need someone young and who will be the frontrunner in 2028.
Adam West is dead and too leftist. Allen West would be much better! 😉
Trump picked Pence because the social conservatives were crowing about what Trump was going to do with the cords. Roe v Wade was, at the time, the only thing they cared about. That’s also why he did the scotus list. Hopefully that’s not an issue this time around.
I want Roseanne Barr as Press Secretary.

Just don’t ask her to sing the National Anthem. Just. Don’t.
Lake spend 25 years as a private sector news reporter working at several news stations doing various jobs.
DeSantis ONLY job in the private sector was as a school teacher for children for 1 year.
Get real.
Btw, Reagan was a Democrat at one time. And the Republicans backed an supported and open border globalist not one term but two.
So what’s your point slick?
Good bet.
Though I absolutely HATE her guts, I'm thinking that Trump will be forced to take Nikki Haley to get the "karen" vote.
So close in name, that I totally missed the incorrect name being used. But Adam West was Batman dang it. 🤣
Did Trump have political experience when he first ran for office?
Bush in a skirt.
I could definitely support either of those candidates. Also, I'd like to see someone like Sheriff David Clarke put in as head of the FBI.
