One of the most informative things I’ve read about Islam is the Sira. Islam has 3 “holy” books, not merely the Koran. The Haddiths (sayings of Mohammed) and The Sira (his official biography). These are the officially vetted books—around for centuries, of what Muslims themselves wrote. My point is, these are the official books, not some summary a Christian or secular scholar wrote. I read it in translation. (Muslim’s favorite dodge is that the Koran/Haddiths/Sira MUST be read in Arabic. Any and all translations are inaccurate...and are blasphemous to read....(so much humbug)).
The Sira is HORRENDOUS. Mohammed starts out as an opportunistic gold-digger, purposely marrying a much older widow in Mecca. He doesn’t have to work, and spends his time in the desert, where he starts having visions. Mecca was a very idolatrous place, but Mohammed starts preaching there’s only one god. He gets very few converts....and after a decade (or 2?) he and followers move to Medina (this is called The Haj).
In Medina he becomes a robber war-lord, and gets very rich. He gains many, many followers, and starts to make war on surrounding Arab tribes...brutally. He murders prisoners of war, raping their wives right after. The highlight of his life is when, on a supposed betrayal...he beheads 800 Jewish POWs in one night. One of his followers, a blind old man, hears a woman making fun of Mohammed...he stabs the woman at night, pinning her to her bed, after he removed her baby from her arms. For this the old man is greatly praised & rewarded...for his “courage.” Then Mohammed marries a 6 year old—to the shock of medieval tribal Arabs (they only married after a girl’s menses)—so he assures them that God in a vision told him it was fine. He “righteously” doesn’t penetrate her until she turns 9. Aisha is his favorite wife. Finally after conquering all Arabia (including Mecca)—and after saying he thinks he’s being poisoned....Mohammed dies. (Good thing...as he’s such a morally repugnant man).
Other than evident leadership capabilities (backed by the sword) there seems to be no redeeming qualities in Mohammed. If he were alive today, he’d fit right in with Hamas, Isis or any terrorist group. In fact common Islamic culture today—as primitive and bad as it is...is still better than the “character” of its founder.
Indeed he was. And he founded a morally repugnant religion.
His evil ideology was once opposed by Christendom ... but what used to be Christendom fractured itself, then became "enlightened", then rejected Christ. A remnant remains ...
Will it be strong enough to overcome the maddened hordes of the followers of the mad "prophet"?
I know not ...
We must repent, and return to Christ.
