Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders is one of the hottest coaches in football at the moment. The Buffaloes are currently 3-0 and ranked No. 19 in the Associated Press poll with a huge game at Oregon coming this weekend.
But it wasn’t always clear that Sanders was headed for success in Boulder. He took plenty of criticism from posting his first meeting with his team. In no uncertain terms, he told the team that he was bringing his “Louis Vitton luggage” with him from Jackson and any player that didn’t like it should hit the portal.
Over 40 players took up Sanders on that offer. But so far, Sanders’ tough love has paid dividends for a program that won one game in the season prior to his arrival.
Sanders didn’t apologize for his method of operation in a recent interview with 60 Minutes.
“I think truth is good for the kids. We’re so busy lying we don’t even recognize the truth no more in society. We want everybody to feel good. That’s not the way life is,” he said, according to Fox News. “Now, it is my job to make sure I have what we need to win. That makes a lot of people feel good – winning does.”
Sanders said anyone who let words run them off wasn’t fit for his program anyway.
“If you went for that, if you were able to let words run you off, you ain’t for us because we’re an old-school staff. We coach hard. We coach tough. We’re disciplined. If you’re allowing verbiage to run you off because you don’t feel secure with your ability – you ain’t for us,” he said.
So far, it’s hard to argue with the results.
Neon Deon plays the race card far too frequently to get and/or deflect attention... It will be interesting to see how Neon Deon and his mouth do against Oregon and USC.
I think the luggage comment is a way of saying he is going to be himself and nothing more. He wears his bling and he is tough on the kids by telling the truth. That is how I interpret that phrase.

Yes. Even though Deion is full of bling and bravado, he may be good for them. He's a responsible father. That's important in the Black Community. We need more role models like him.
There is no “there” there. No video (unless it was in the count down which seemed to be all baseball) of Prime LOOSING his cool. Nothing more than a headline.
Dude. Nobody expects CU to beat either of those teams. If CU goes .500 it’d be a huge success, but seriously, no one expects those two wins.

Very reasonable. Unfortunately, if Colorado actually made it to the Natty, but lost, there would be people who would say, “Told you. Nothing to get excited about.” .500 would be huge.
