Elon just confirmed the U.S or Ukrainian Government requested him to play a significant role in a MAJOR ESCALATION in the Ukraine war.
CNN reported that Elon deactivated his Starlink satellites in response to a covert attack the Ukrainians were planning on the Russian naval fleet. They were WRONG!
Elon clarified the satellites were NOT active, and that he was pressured by the Government to activate them so that Ukraine can attack Russian ships in a contentious territory.
“There was an emergency request from government authorities to activate Starlink all the way to Sevastopol. The obvious intent being to sink most of the Russian fleet at anchor.”
@elonmusk refused to activate Starlink, avoiding “a major act of war and conflict escalation.”
So not only are Governments not deescalating the war, but they have also actively tried to drag a private company to play a role in ESCALATING.
This is NOT how peace will be reached!

Compelling private us corporations to supply support for either side of a conflict which isn’t in the US National interest is tyrannical. But you watch...fjb will probably find way to get access to starlink for Ukraine only.

Musk had previously allowed the Starlink system to be used by Ukraine in its defense against the Russian aggressor. And it was used to great effect.
SpaceX has major contracts from the DOD. They handle almost all Fedgov launches, most are military and secret. I believe that the DOD is also the largest single Starlink customer.
Russia can end it immediately by withdrawing from Ukraine. Russia will not “die” if they do that. They can be whatever they want to be after that.

Russia invaded Ukraine the first time in 2014 and illegally annexed Crimea and fomented civil war between pro-Russia separatists and the rest of Ukraine. It escalated that invasion in February, 2022.
I’ve read scores of essays and reports on the matter, as well as books. A good one is: “The Russo-Ukrainian War” by Serhi Plokhy.
