It is now clear that Ukraine’s eagerly anticipated counteroffensive has been a colossal failure.[1] After three months, the Ukrainian army has made little progress pushing back the Russians. Indeed, it has yet to get beyond the so-called “grey zone,” the heavily contested strip of land that lies in front of the first main line of Russian defenses. The New York Times reports that “In the first two weeks of the counteroffensive, as much as 20 percent of the weaponry Ukraine sent to the battlefield was damaged or destroyed, according to U.S. and European officials. The toll included some of the formidable Western fighting machines — tanks and armored personnel carriers — that the Ukrainians were counting on to beat back the Russians.”[2] According to virtually all accounts of the fighting, Ukrainian troops have suffered enormous casualties.[3] All nine of the vaunted brigades that NATO armed and trained for the counteroffensive have been badly chewed up on the battlefield.

* elect a corrupt clown-actor to set up a kleptocracy -- and make kleptocracy work
* send $200 billion of our tax money, which we don't have, into that black hole -- one of the most corrupt countries on the planet
* sent numerous "game changer" weapons to overturn the war (none of which succeeded)

We've reached a new strange phase of the war in which Ukraine will defeat Russia by fabricating victories on the battlefield. In the past week, we've seen reports from the Daily Telegraph, Forbes, and Yahoo that Ukraine has captured Rabotine, captured Verbove, and has broken through the Surovikin line.

If those reports are not true why are Russian sources saying they are true, and why are Russians shelling Robotyne and the areas near Verbove where the Ukrainian forces have shown themselves in video and photographs?

I'm sure God was looking out for us -- then. But He sure didn't mind pulling away from Israel a few times and watching them annihilate themselves.

Also, in the instances you mentioned, one side was soundly defeated -- us in Vietnam and the USSR in the Cold War.
