This mudslinging is the same gimmick Trump used against Ted Cruz in 2016.

It worked then, so Trump figures it will work again. The only problem is Ron DeSantos is no Ted Cruz.

It worked then because Ted Cruz was too afraid to hit back. His campaign employed a strategy of not responding, basically just smiling and waving as Donald Trump called him every name under the sun.

If DeSantis does the same once he's officially in, you might as well cancel the primary and give the nomination to Trump. That simply doesn't work. You have to hit back whether you like it or not.

And Cruz did a few things himself that didn’t help. But when Trump got into office and put his policies in place, Cruz was a good supporter.
