“They used nuclear weapons, creating a precedent.”

Well, yes. When we bombed Japan, my father had just finished training for the invasion of Japan. He died in March of 2021, at 94. He told me many times he was afraid of invading Japan, because of their suicidal attitudes and their blind loyalty and brutality. (he was also sick of war)

Fat Man and Little Boy ended the war.

My father was in disembarked at Kure as a volunteer with the BCOF in Feb 1946. He was already a seasoned soldier, having fought in New Guinea and Borneo. The destruction he witnessed at Hiroshima left a mark on him.He understood the Bombs ended the war, but none the less was not a fan of it. He never liked the fact such destructive weapons were given cutsie names.

My dad and yours had similar paths at that time. He became part of the occupation forces at the end of the war and was greatful. He knew The war would have gone on long after if the A-Bomb wasn’t used effectively

RIP Pops.
