The Soviet Union and present-day Russia pose a threat to us of nuclear incineration. This is a threat that we have handled for approaching three generations and done rather well.
China poses a threat of economic strangulation, ultimate conventional and nuclear superiority, infiltration and control of our domestic politics bringing us to the point of surrender. If we know ourselves as well as our enemy, shore ourselves up domestically, the China threat can be coped with.
The Davos elites, funded with their $billions, armed with their dark digital powers and possessed of near exclusive, hacking expertise, command and control pose a threat that is entirely unique. They are describing a world in which the power of Russia and China are utterly irrelevant. They are not changing the pieces on the playing board, they've thrown away the playing board and created a whole new reality. A reality that exists in the dark where they alone can see.
Our Constitution, timeless in its principles, might prove woefully inadequate to protect us from this new technology even though it protects us in the conventional world from the deceitful hearts of man. Our Armed Forces are utterly irrelevant. Public opinion is no source of strength but an actual threat as it is manipulated. The will of the people becomes a Frankenstein monster.
We have seen in the past how the world is rocked when our understanding of that world is radically and swiftly altered. One thinks of fascism and communism as examples leading to worldwide upheaval and the death of millions. This digital threat, if real, is a whole new order of magnitude, a whole new epistemology that can prove even more virulent because insidious.
