I keep seeing maps of “Russian controlled” areas on a map but mostly it’s just Russians on a main road in those areas or something

The few cities they do have are not really under their control...people are in the streets protesting

they don’t have enough troops to occupy anything out side of small areas for a short time

WTF are they thinking

The Russian goal is not conquest.

The Russian goal is not occupation.

Their goal is decapitation of the leadership and replacement with a government friendly to them.

Once that is clear everything starts to make sense.

Generally when we go to war we take out the power, the water, the gas, communications, before we even send in the ground troops. So the country we are at war with is in a tough situation without utilities. Then it’s easier to win. Although it costs us billions of dollars to rebuild everything.

I think Putin is keeping most things intact in Ukraine so Russia does not have to spend so much rebuild it. They are primarily targeting the military, government buildings and not citizens. You can see Putin is going around the perimeter of the country before moving troops in.

I think he is trying to keep Ukraine intact to save money rebuilding it later.
