It will stop even sooner if we pay them bounty and buy them more bullets.
I support the concept of “defense of self” and “defense of property” and I believe in broad interpretation of these things. If a guy robs a store and the store owner shoots him in the back, I’m OK with that.
I find the police to be mostly useless. I would like citizens to have more leeway to deal with criminals.
Then if the perp raises the hammer....you could lower yours....
In NY, Chicago or California? Won’t happen.
They don’t need to “shoot on sight”.
The mass looting incidents are occurring in stores that can, if they want, hire and post armed guards at their sites. The presence of armed guards alone will act as a deterrent to many of the recent type of incidents in the news.
Automatic locks and bars on widows and doors . Then just shoot everyone in the store that doesn’t give up immediately . Clean up the store and get ready for the next turkey shoot. This will put an end to this.
Antifa in your face chanting “Protect people, not the property.”
It all depends on the jurisdiction and the culture surrounding the stores.
The most effective way (which the police, DA and press will hate) would be citizen response teams who would outnumber the vandals.
The politicians will never allow that, since the line between “Shoot looters on sight!” and “Shoot politicians on sight!” is so exceptionally thin. :)
Notice these activities are NOT occurring not in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wyoming.
I wonder why?
I don’t the argument is how much tolerance we should have over shoplifting. I think the argument is how much tolerance do we have for the murders, rapes, assaults, home invasions, etc that WILL occur if the bad guys are emboldened to commit organized large scale thefts with absolutely no fear of consequences.
So yes, store owners should be encouraged to protect property with force. Lots of it.
“My property is more valuable to me than the life of a criminal” should be a default.
Just how does this blogger propose to implement this sort of remedy? Who will put forth such a law?
What the Mayor of San Francisco said back in 1906..
http://sfmuseum.org/press/clips20.html
“Let it be given out,” said the Mayor sternly, “that three men have already been shot down without mercy for looting.
Let it also be understood that the order has been given to all soldiers and policemen to do likewise without hesitation in the cases of any and all miscreants who may seek to take advantage of the city’s awful misfortune.
I will ask the Chief of Police and the representatives of the Federal military authorities here present if I do not echo their sentiments in this?”
If I were younger, I would get into the security business of putting bars on windows and doors....................
Stop it. All of this is planned. Looting is just one more method to de-gentrify our cities.
Would the Castle Doctrine come in to play for store owners that are in states that observe this? just asking
