An excellent article. And a good rebuttal of Joe Biden’s Pie-in-the-Sky Socialism.

Except he didn’t, because there are two steering wheels.

We will definitely need advancements in energy storage, distribution, and consumption if we are going to reduce dependence on energy from the ground

The transition is bound to be painful. It is not so much of environmental concern as practical. Nuclear, magnetic, quantum physics and mechanics may soon get us methods of transport previously unthought of.

Meanwhile Biden is a fraud and sucks to boot.

He spent a year in a clown car but they didn’t let him drive.

The F150 lightning can tow “10,000lbs” But it doesn’t say how far. My guess would be something less than 100 miles on the highway based on people trying to tow 1/2 that with a Tesla model X.

On the calculates a Trip tab on the Lightning Web site, it gives travel times between destinations without any charging time including (which could be double travel time, depending on charger). Incredibly dishonest.

Pick-up trucks are used on construction sites, forest preserves, national forests, rural areas… all areas too remote for charging stations to be in place, all areas that require vehicles to arrive fully fueled already.… Because they cannot expect to be refueled on-site.

These will be perfect for CA fire personnel. Get to a rural fire, have the fire backtrack and then they find out that the truck doesn't have the power to allow them to escape.

Or how about a police chase? A scenario where they are chasing the bad guy who is driving a gasoline powered vehicle and just as they try to pit him the electric engine dies.

When was the last time a valid SloJo driver license and SloJo were seen in the same venue?

The author is right and wrong about pickup truck buyers. Indeed in the exurbs and rural areas, a pickup does work for its keep. BUT there are millions of cowboy
Cadillacs, ie mall trucks and mall jeeps that never get mud on the tires or a scratch in the bed. They are comfy to drive, good for the ego and handy for trips to Home Depot for the color-dyed mulch bags.

NET: Ford will sell a lot of these in the Platinum (top) trim level to the right market.

I on the other hand will stick to my 2012 F150 with extended range fuel tanks. Sure, it’s Lariat trim with leather seats and a sunroof, but I gotta sit in it ;-)

Last fall out here in flyover country, I watch the harvest in full swing. Large combines trundled through the field harvesting corn or soybeans and large semi trucks were being filled from the combine to take the grain to nearby elevators. Now this spring large tractors are pulling discs and planters across the field planting another crop. All of these farm machines operate on diesel fuel. There are no electric farm vehicles like this even in prototype. Should in some Biden Green Utopia farmers are forced to replace these machines with battery powered versions, where in the middle of a field would they get recharged? Would farm work be reduced to an hour in the field, an hour driving to a recharge station, multiple hours of charging and then an hour drive back while crops rot in the field?
