Boris Johnson was very reluctant to do all of that, but he came under pressure from every quarter, including public opinion, to impose a draconian lockdown after being accused of being complacent earlier on and not doing it.

He did it, but he didn’t want to do it. At least he is a man of libertarian instincts who wants to get back to normal as soon as he can, a Labour PM would probably have had to have the powers given to him by the crisis prised out of his hands.

He is already in trouble for allegedly saying “He would rather let the bodies pile up than impose another lockdown” in a cabinet meeting. Heresay evidence of course, but if it is true it goes to show the kinds of pressures he was coming under to do what he did.

The trend in the UK is downward before Mr. Johnson his predecessors social liberalism banning of Michael Savage and handling of Tommy Robinson paving the way for the Johnson Junta.

David Cameron and Teresa May cut from the same cloth.
