The first thing I found is that Staple Street co-founder Stephen Owens is reported to have donated $2300 to Obama in 2008. This doesn’t mean much so moving on.
More interestingly, Staple Street’s three-member board includes William Kennard, a mover and shaker in both New York and Washington DC. His ties to the whos-who in America are extensive.
•chairman of the FCC under President Clinton
•named ambassador to the EU by President Obama for 2009–2013
•his government biography calls him a “key force” behind Obama’s TTIP trade pact that was later scrapped by President Trump
•he was a member of John Kerry’s Foreign Affairs Policy team
•He also co-founded Astra Capital with Mark Johnson, who served on Obama-Biden’s economic transition team
•Kennard also heads Velocitas Partners with Robert Mandell, who was a major bundler for Obama, raising $280,000 for his campaign and inauguration. Mandell was rewarded with the US ambassadorship to Luxembourg where his paths likely crossed with Kennard who was the EU envoy.
•Mandell was a signer of the letter from former “national security officials” who called Trump unfit for office.
