For Trump and his Republican allies, the whole episode affirms everything they have been saying these last few years about liberals.
Whether Pelosi thought she was following the rules in place is lost entirely in the Trump campaign's rush to use the incident as a symbol of the do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do culture that they argue pervades the Democratic Party -- on Covid-19 (and everything else.) This tweet, from Trump's campaign, which the President also retweeted on Wednesday morning, gets at that point....

Between this episode, the ice cream episode, and her blocking everyone in the country from getting another IRS check because she wanted to get three trillion more for herself and her Democrat friends, well, I can’t wait to see all the commercials, if they would be allowed to be played.

And there it is: even while admitting that Pelosi did it, he excuses her and tries the “Republicans pounce” cliche to shift blame to Trump. Pelosi is not only old enough to know the rules in place in her own district, she’s old enough to know the laws of ancient Mesopotamia. She wasn’t surprised by the rules; she was just surprised that the peasants dared to call her for breaking them.
