NBC's Chuck Todd played a deceptively edited clip of Attorney General William Barr's response to a question regarding the attorney general's decision to dismiss charges against former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Not only were Barr's comments taken out of context, Chuck Todd accused Barr of not citing "the rule of law" when the attorney general specifically stated the "rule of law" in his answer.
(snip) "...When history looks back on this decision, how do you think it will be written? What will it say about your decision making?" asked CBS' Catherine Herridge during an interview with Attorney General Barr on Thursday.
"Well, history is written by the winner. So it largely depends on who's writing the history. But I think a fair history would say that it was a good decision because it upheld the rule of law. It helped, it upheld the standards of the Department of Justice, and it undid what was an injustice," Barr responded.
NBC edited the video of Barr's answer to remove the whole "rule of law" part, and then Chuck Todd accused the attorney general of failing to cite the rule of law in his answer.
Today on Meet The Press, @chucktodd wildly took context out of an answer AG Bill Barr gave about his decision to drop the case into Gen. Michael Flynn.
I cut Todd's segment along with Barr's full answer together. Look at how blatantly dishonest this is. pic.twitter.com/tODOEwL48V— Greg Price (@greg_price11) May 10, 2020

Any organization purposefully purveying FAKE NEWS and misinformation should have their FCC broadcast licence pulled. Permanently . The entire organization. Pulled out by the roots . To hell with their perverse use of 1st Amendment ‘rights’ . The 1st Amendment is NOT cover to LIE ,or to spread misinformation , disinformation , or propaganda
It’ time to uproot these lying scum in the U.S. media. Once and for all . True news or NO NEWS . End the lies!
BTW, Chuck Todd didn’t show the whole AG Barr’s answer. So yeah, that qualifies for ‘deceptive edit’.
I don’t know if his other guests on the show (in this case, Peggy Noonan) knew the whole Barr statement or only the part Todd showed.
Anyway, whatever they (Todd and Noonan) had to say is irrelevant if Todd can’t be an honest broker dealing in news/opinions.
NBC has a long history of altering or outright faking the news.
Remember the exploding pickup?
It wouldn’t blow up on it’s own so they gave it some help.
Without having seen it I can tell you Peggy Noonan had nothing good to say about President Trump.
We are in the full goebbels territory now.
And my “liberal” friends and relatives watch all those networks and wonder - they can’t imagine - why I don’t. I have told them many times how they will never get the real news unless they go out of their comfort zone and start reading - not watching - reading alternative sources that do not take words out of context just to suit the story they want to tell.
It took me years, through all the 70s as an steady NY Slimes reader, but as I also kept reading alternative Conservative sources, before I began dissecting the NY Slimes articles and admitted they were mostly editorials pretending to be “news reports” and always to a Leftist bent. The broadcast networks do it as well but they are obvious & blatant at it while they NY Slimes tries to be more sophisticated, more linguistically and stylistically devious. Often the NY Slimes is sloppy, and gives up their own errors with facts that defy their version of a story thrown in near the end, as if the readers will not read that far. The networks don’t even do that.
What you do in a case like this is you make two columns. Column A is direct accurate in context quotes from Barr.
Column B is what Chuck Todd said he said - direct and accurate quotes from Chuck Todd.
Column A quotes vs Column B quote. Quick, accurate, easy and we can all see what Chuck Todd did. Not this longwinded gibberish that I cannot follow leading to a video that I don't want to listen to because it doesn't just get to the effin point either, which is the Chuck Todd is a fraud.
And stop it with all the irrelevant words and paragraphs that don't make your point. Head shot with a high caliber bullet, not well over hear I am mixing some mud and.. and ... and.. and... and well golly gee, we took our target out with some mud we threw that we made in our own special mud pit.....
By that point you have entirely lost anyone who does care and failed to reach all the people who thought they didn't care.
We have to be better than that. We really do.
They wouldn’t have to do this if they were telling the truth.
This is why the reality shows have exceeded their sell-by date -- you can't interview anyone in LA without agreeing to their reality show releases.
I "dislike" reality shows succinctly and completely BUT, if politicians adopted the same paradigm: "Yes, I'll sit for an interview IF you also agree to be taped in the entirety, and I will immediately release the entirety of said interview as a viral video before you can broadcast it", you could destroy the #MSM cabal in a year. Maybe less.
It's so simple but these DC oldsters genuinely don't grok it, they don't grasp the power of counter-filming interviews. They'd rather get on the phone with their peers and brag about 'how well I did given the circumstances'.
The first young GOP candidate with a firm grasp on US exceptionalism, who insists on counter-filming the #MSM, is going to rise straight to the top.
My wife says the same thing to her father constantly. He watches MSNBC and thinks he is informed. She tells him he is receiving only a deliberately crafted, one sided point of view and that there’s a whole other one he misses entirely.
For those who say we’ve entered a new normal, NBC reaffirms our belief that is not true.
It's not that hard.
Barr said.... Chuck said Barr said.....
Chuck augered into the manure pile with his Pinocchio nose spattering dreck all over his rosey cheeks in front of God and everyone. Full stop.
I can't understand why educated professionals like them still do this when it's so easy to prove their deceptions.
Maybe they just can't control their worst instincts.

Bear in mind that networks do not have FCC licenses. The individual affiliates have the FCC burden. So network newsrooms have pretty much free reign.
Most people (Free Republic here and at Townhall) who commented understand the whole article just fine.
If you like the story told however style you like it, YOU should write them up yourself.
Now if you don’t have anything else to ADD TO the discussion of the content of the article, have a nice weekend.
I don’t think that Todd is that bright. He could just claim that he didn’t know the clip was incomplete and deceptive, and most would believe him.
He likely only saw what Media sMatters sent them.. That’s probably who sliced and diced this
Problem is, it’s also likely to be the only version many of our lawmakers, on both sides, will see
