If the Senate decides to consider new impeachment trial witnesses and documents next week, Sen. Josh Hawley plans to try and force votes on everyone from Adam Schiff to Joe Biden.

The Missouri Republican is preparing to file subpoena requests for witnesses and documents that Democrats and Republicans alike won't want to vote on. Hawley's strategy harmonizes with plans from GOP Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas and Rand Paul of Kentucky to force votes to hear from Hunter Biden, the former vice president's son who was on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma

The dems and the gop in the senate are mostly the same guy. None of them want their apple cart upended. Putting the Biden’s or Pelousy’s or whomever on the stand to talk about influence and nepotism is the LAST thing they want because once the ball gets rolling, it rolls in all directions. Worse, with live presentations, unfiltered by the media, many questions arise in the minds of the voters. For example, look what is happening with black voters who listened to the dems for years. Trump, unfiltered, said what do you have to lose, take a chance on me. They did, he won and the dems are in misery about it. Lastly, why call witnesses, the only group that might get an advantage in the coming election would be the dems over trying to embarrass the President. The outcome of this “trial” is known, acquittal.

Schumer’s earlier amendments were out of order. There was never chance of them passing. The real votes will come after the defense rests.

Absolutely agree. Witnesses are a trap. Biden and Schiff will plead the 5th, D witnesses will be never-Trumpers with a national platform for revenge. No thanks. Subpoena Hunter Biden and have him appear after this BA is dead and gone.
