Assuming the House votes for articles of impeachment, Trump's fate will rest on the Republicans in the Senate. It's good that a two-thirds majority is needed. With 53 Republican senators, it would require 20 of them to be bribed or blackmailed into voting to convict (a few might to so without those inducements, like Romney) and Trump would be out of office. I don't think that's going to happen.

If the Senate had 51 Democrats, we would see a Senate trial which was just as much a travesty of justice as Adam Schiff's star chamber proceedings have been...but it would still be hard for the Democrats to get to 67 votes.

As it stands, the legitimacy of our government may depend on 20 individuals not giving in to the blandishments of the Left.
