A Mike Pence Presidency Is No Longer Just Dinner Party Chatter in DC — Is He Up to the Job?
MSN News ^ | October 12, 2019 | Bill Powell, Newsweek

As House Democrats ponder the politics of impeaching Donald J. Trump, they are weighing the possible outcomes. An impeachment inquiry could weaken the president before next year's election and give the White House back to the Democrats, or it could backfire, the way the GOP's effort to oust Bill Clinton did in 1998. But there's a third option: impeachment could succeed. As a senior staffer on the House Judiciary Committee framed the dilemma, "What if we're left with President Pence?"

That scenario has seemed far-fetched — until this week. At the moment there don't seem to be enough GOP senators who would vote to convict Trump if the Democratic-controlled House passes articles of impeachment against him. But the president hasn't been able to quash "Ukraine-gate," the scandal that erupted after a White House whistleblower reported that Trump pressed Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky for dirt on Joe Biden and his son Hunter. Releasing the transcript of the call, which the White House apparently believed was exculpatory, only intensified the pressure. A recent Fox News poll showed a majority — 51 percent — now want Trump impeached and removed from office. That was the first major poll showing a majority in favor of Trump's ouster.

Nobody could step into Trump’s gargantuan shoes.

The Democrats primary weakness is that they believe their own b@llsh!t. This is one of the the biggest farces in history and they think its succeeding. What a bunch of maroons.

No way. We need the fighter - POTUS DJT. Even if he was impeached and ousted (not likely), he could still run again couldn’t he -at least that has happened with other positions.

He does have a 95% Republican approval rating.

Tonight, we just saw Louisiana totally flip Republican. They now have a massive GOP majority in their House and Senate.

More than likely, the Democrat Governor will be booted next month in the runoff election.

I see this as a harbinger of what's going to happen next year in all of America.

Insanity on parade. Any GOP Senator voting to convict is committing political suicide. And a President Pence would send the GOP the way of the Whigs. Trump has a 94% approval rating among GOP voters.

First of all, these doofuses are delusional. Trump will not be tossed out. Secondly, Mike Pence will be a fantastic president when he wins in 2024 and 2028!

I’m not 100% sold on Pence, as I really don’t know the real nuts and bolts of the guy, but if he’s suddenly causing loose bowels within the DC liberal elite circles, he must have some bona fides worth looking into.

This was always the case. The thing to watch out for is all the behind the scenes voter fraud shenanigans.

He may be a Jimmy Carter, nice guy, but I’d rather have Leo Durocher.

this is all youre gonna hear from here on in...trying to shape public opinion...notice they all keep referencing that bogus Fox poll, its got em all giddy...never mind that poll was conducted by a rabid, radical lezzie democrat...NY Post debunked it today. Democrats are frantically trying to weave a story together, but i think they are stuck...notice what few hearings they have had has all been in secret. If they had a real story, you can bet it would be a televised show. They tried that with Mueller and Cohen and those were a disaster. Trump is winning this thing, trust me..those rallies terrify them. He needs to keep doing them and mock the whole thing as merciless as possible.

If Mike Pence is the one who is being groomed to eventually carry the mantle of the Trump legacy, then we are toast. He might be a nice guy, straight arrow, but also has the personality of a russet-burbank. All the leadership skills and vision of a midwest women’s softball coach. Say what you will, Americans vote for a person, not a slice of wonder bread that commercials told us represents a vision.

They’re still touting that bull$hit, discredited, FOX bogus “51%” so-called “poll?”

To quote Alec Baldwin in 'Glengarry Glen Ross':

"Nice guy? I don’t give a ____. Good father? ____ you. Go home and play with your kids! You wanna work here...Close!"
