“and having to go in and make sure all the privacy settings have not been reset to factory is a pain in the backside.”

And the factory privacy settings open up even more backdoors on top of the ones that can’t be closed.

Go search for “PySol Games” - you will find several versions and while no longer being supported this is Free Open Source software distributed under GNU General Public License and contains thousands of card and related games, including hundreds of Mahjongg games, all of which put Microsoft’s to shame.

This package is the BEST solitaire package I have found. It works just fine under Linux, and I install it on all my OS installs.

No extra unneeded BS or setting changes and only what it absolutely needs. Another reason I like Linux.

Microsoft is still an abusive disaster.

Lost the nice little ability to ramp my brightness percentage up and down in the taskbar and then made the mistake of opening a chat inquiring about it. The well-meaning support person launched me into a seriously involved process to identify my display vendor for a driver update, but while directing me to also run some new code commands in preparation didn’t give me any warning that the last line of code she was giving me would restart my computer. Way too long on the chat and no actual progress before the session was vaporized.

W8 was really terrible!( Dead computer- could not resuscitate!) 8.1 was better, but still sucked. Haven’t touched 8.1 laptop in a year and a half now. It should work, though. But there’s no ether cord.
I just don’t do WI-Fi anymore. Except if we want to watch a particular movie or something. Microwave paranoia.
Look it up on you tube.

Yep, crooks and thieves from the get go. In fact it is rumored that Bill Gates and Paul Allen stole it from a friend and third party who actually wrote it and never got any credit or compensation.

I use this as my start page... It allows me to set a bunch of links like the old MSN did. FreeRepublic is at the top of the list!

“Whoever heard of selling you something and then taking it back? And not even with compensation.”

Tell you what, The “end user agreement” has nothing that gives them the right to always own what the customer has purchased on his own machine. Only that the software cannot be shared with others aside from yourself as the end user.

I 100% get the Microsoft vs. Linux arguments on this thread. The main reason I still have a Windows 10 laptop is I love, love, love me some Visual Studio. It is hands down the best IDE I've ever used. Can it run on another OS? Sure, but not like it does on Windows 10.

Especially with the way I can build apps to manipulate a browser object and automatically collect data for investing purposes. IMHO, Selenium is a great tool and can be used by any app on any OS that can run a JRE (Java Runtime Engine). But man, Selenium is more of a resource hog than when my teenagers lived at home and kept raiding the fridge. :) I like tweaking my light apps made in C# to keep adjusting my investing research tool and soon my investing automation tool (buying shares in different ETF's that it detects have dropped a lot in price so I can buy cheap).

I lost my Win7 Solitaire, but I found a download and reloade it.

Actually, it was there the whole time. The new download just woke it up. My stats were still intact.

I am pretty sure you can install the newer versions of those for free from the Windows app store.
