Without question. Also, there should be a national movement to demand the loss of almost ALL perks Congress-critters enjoy. Only those who actually want to do something positive should be attracted to that job. It should be difficult, toiling, underpaid, and have NO pension with the exception of whatever money the Congress-critter puts in to a 401K out of their own pay - with matching funds.
There are some Congressional people I respect, and I’m sorry this would affect them, but it has to be done. Congress has become a sick joke - filled with self-aggrandizing idiots.
My opinion is that congressional term limits are the worst idea ever.
Congress is that last bastion of direct democracy that the people still control. Everything else, and especially the vast government bureaucracy, is completely out of control and supervision. This is what’s known as the “deep state.”
Congress already has given away power to the vast government bureaucracy who basically shape most laws via their own regulatory power. Judges and courts make law too. Limit congressmen to 6 or 8 years, and they become lame ducks and power will officially become a pathetic joke.
How about we first term-limit every government program instead? Unless reauthorized, all agencies dissolve and disappear after 10 years?
Decentralize congress(reps & sens). Make them stay at home in their districts/states. Meetings, debates, votes, etc. can be conducted by teleconferences. There’s no need, in this modern age, for congresscritters to be gathered in the same location. The swamp would remain but a lot of its slimiest creatures would be gone.
