President Trump’s plan to turn the Fourth of July into a commercial for his reelection campaign paid off spectacularly, if you’re using Nielsen ratings as a metric. According to just-released figures from the audience-measurement company, more than 6 million Americans watched coverage of the Trump propaganda effort between 7 and 8 p.m. EDT last Thursday, the hour during which the former star of The Apprentice read remarks from a teleprompter. Unsurprisingly, Trump-friendly Fox News, which covered the event most exhaustingly, dominated the hour, notching an eye-popping 4.9 million viewers during the hour, about double what the network normally draws in the time slot. CNN, which mixed coverage of Trump’s speech with some analysis, drew about 1.5 million viewers, also a substantial improvement over its typical early-evening numbers (which generally hover around the 1 million mark). That puts the combined audience for the Trumpified festivities at around 6.4 million.
As impressive as these numbers are, it should be noted that more Americans opted to watch NBC’s politics-free presentation of the Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks/concert. The Peacock’s two-hour premiere telecast of the show generated an average audience of 5.9 million from 8 to 10 p.m., with the audience peaking at 8.8 million viewers from 9:30 to 10 p.m. (when the actual fireworks were going off). The network also aired a condensed version of the special in the 10 p.m. hour, drawing another 3.8 million viewers. That puts the estimated combined audience for the two telecasts at around 9 million viewers (since there was likely some overlap between the two telecasts’ viewerships).

“Actually” watched? Well, sure I actually watched. I made a point to when I found out the networks weren’t covering it, and I determined not to watch any of their programming. I don’t care if they had raised John Wayne from the dead to lead the Pledge of Allegiance and Kate Smith to sing the national anthem, I wasn’t going to watch.
As far as I know, they were the only news network to cover it at all. CNN and MSNBC boycotted it. I'm sure OANN covered it too, but that's unavailable on many cable systems. They are small potatoes compared to even the lowly CNN.
I gotta say, some things just don't translate to TV and fireworks is one of those things. Maybe the concert was good but personally I would never tune in to watch fireworks on TV.
The “Salute to America” event was well done, with Trump fully Presidential and nonpolitical. Yet, as the NY Times surely knows, political scientists have shown that non-partisan patriotic events broadly sway undecided voters toward the GOP and conservative candidates. Reminded of the greatness and worthiness of America, voters tend to favor those who uphold the country.

There still is a media blackout. I wasn’t able to watch it live, and wanted to see it yesterday — I am sure there are many people in the aame position. I tried to find it via both Google and Bing, and it was very difficult to do so. It is buried. More big media censorship.

Trump has a massive underground following. It doesn't show in the polls as folks know they can lose their jobs and get beat up. So the silent majority is again following Trump. And the Media is missing it, predictably, once again.
Women love Trump because he is strong and unpredictable. Patriots love Trump because he loves the USA and the Dems clearly don't. Vets love Trump because on what he did to the VA. And there's a lot more folks who love Trump simply because he is the Underdog being unfairly beat up and undermined.
The Dems love illegals and hates the USA and it's citizens. It's as plain as the nose on your face and the Dems are way stuck on Stupid along with their Stupid Press.
It's like watching a train wreck about to happen in slow motion. The snowflakes are about to wail, moan and cry once again in mass.
Why is it the focus has always been on the date of the Declaration of Independence. Not when we were actually officially recognized as an independent nation officially created country seven years later on a day and month that ironically centuries later was nearly the same as when WWII officially ended, and yet both dates remain unobserved.
