“I still love good old KFC, all dark original. I’ve tried some of the others and they never did much for me. I just wish they had better sides.‘
No kidding! What’s up with the mashed potatoes? Taste like ground up cardboard. Not that I ever tried ground up cardboard.

LOL - Yeah, we always had that used coffee can full of bacon grease too.

Best fried chicken; milk & egg mixture, flour with salt & pepper then cooked in a cast iron skillet with Crisco.

Tennessee’s mom friend also added garlic. It was delicious.

My Mother was born and raised in the Florida Panhandle as were her parents and Grandparents. We lived on a farm when I was little.

Mother would go out in the yard, grab a chicken, wring it’s neck, pluck, clean etc. She fried in lard. I can still recall the flavor of biting into a drumstick.

It was delicious, still the very best from some chains was a little bit better. Most of the times not.

I’ve hat Southern Kitchen fried chicken. It’s really good.

Another favorite fried chicken place is the Maxwell House Bar & Grill in Spokane, WA. Didn’t think I’d be impressed, but I was.

Brings back memories when I was very little. I do remember my dad wringing a chicken’s neck and watched it walk around without it’s head. And we had fried chicken that evening for dinner.

(not on a farm, just a small town)

My mother always made homemade noodles and mashed potatoes when we had fried chicken and a vegetable from our garden. I didn’t realize how good we were eating back then.

The best perch “batter” is flour and salt.

There's a bar here in Mt. Clemens that has perch dinners every Friday night, best perch around.

A bunch of years ago a friend of mine's sister in law who lives in Arizona, was here visiting and they went to the bar one Friday night for the perch. She got a copy of the recipe from the bar owner and took it back to Arizona where she gave it to the owner of her favorite bar and convinced him to try offering perch dinners on Fridays.

As word got out, it wasn't long before he was packing the bar with people waiting outside to get in........As a side note, he had to order the perch from suppliers here in Michigan.

Our local KFC is absolutely awful. The wings are no bigger than my thumb and the chicken always tastes old. Nothing like it was 15 - 20 years ago. When I want fried chicken in our small town, I head to the Publix deli — always delicious, spicy or regular.

....”bacon grease is the best”....

Fried potatoes aren’t golden fried potatoes without it!

“Anything good here around the Boston area?”

Move south, we did. Your vote will never count in Boston and you can’t get good fried chicken. Legal Seafood doesn’t even come close!

My favorite Golden Bird location was the one in the Crenshaw shopping plaza. They had lots of parking and a large indoor dining area.

You could smell the distinct aroma of their special recipe before you even hit the door.

I like to use bacon grease instead of the margarine in Kraft Mac-n-cheese.

In the fish. Great lakes fish are notorious for having large mercury contamination.

The Brookville Hotel (no rooms, just food) in Abilene, Kansas has excellent fried chicken (the only item on the menu). Just off of I-70 if you are traveling through. I would recommend it highly.

Is the Southern KOREAN fried chicken??
(CHUCKLE.)

Fyi, fried chicken isn’t what I’m looking for to eat in a Korean place. - My favorite is BIB IM BAP with soft eggs on top.
(YES, I know that Koreans think of that as the culinary equivalent of ordering a cheeseburger basket. - Nonetheless, it’s my favorite Korean dish.)

Yours, TMN78247
