The US is getting closer to our interests than Canada is.

Would Western Canada want to join us? Keep their single payer. Those that want it can move there. Nova Scotia would not survive.

The Atlantic provinces might have to become a single state. However, there is no way for Canada to survive once Alberta left.

Whatever Albertans wanted, would only be at state level.

The Northern Territories could survive on their own. They have to. Survival. Turn it into a penal colony.

I’m Albertan and I’ve talked to thousands here who would rather be a 51st state than stay where we are.

I say we trade Alberta for MA, RI, CT, VT, ME and, sad to say, NH.

The difference is that states have Constitutional protections from being raped by Washington. Canadian provinces don’t have that protection.
Consequently, Alberta has paid over $300 billion dollars, and more, since Confederation and Quebec has received slightly over 50% of that.

Has anyone told them that nothing good comes from being the only place in the Western Hemisphere that speaks French. At the very least, they could start speaking Spanish, although English would still be much better in their neighborhood.

Quebec is allowing itself to.be Islamacized. It will eventually speak Arabic, not bastardized French.

Montana seems a preferable choice, because it cowboys. Idaho only has potatoes.

Alberta has other issues to deal with:
LGBT activists want to force Catholic schools in Canada to hire teachers in "same-sex marriage" IOW, they need to deal with being Canadian, the place where the King's loyalists went for refuge after the Revolution to hide among the French trappers and Indian tribes who just wanted to be left to trade furs and live traditionally. Of course, we had some Loyalists who went under deep cover and now infest US from a place they proudly proclaim as "New England" so they can live in the open like the subjects they wish to be.

It would certainly be part of the reason that Albertans are phased.
