Republican’s should play by Democrat rules and appoint Martha McSally in place of Kyl

It's time for Republicans to play by Democrat rules.

On August 25,2018, after a long and painful illness, Arizona Republican Senator John McCain died.

His death created an opening in the Republican Senate Caucus.

On September 5, 2018 Arizona’s Republican Governor Doug Ducey filled the vacancy created by Senator McCain’s death by appointing former Arizona Republican Senator Jon Kyl to serve until 2020 and complete McCain’s term.

In 2012 Kyl announced he would not run for re-election and retired from politics; which gave us the plague of the aptly named Jeff Flake.

As a service to the nation and the Republican Party, Senator Kyl agreed to come back to the Senate with the understanding that he could resign as quickly as the end of December 2018.

In the now likely event that Arizona Republican Senate candidate Martha McSally loses, Governor Ducey should respond by playing by Democrat rules.

Ducey should accept Senator Kyl’s resignation and immediately appoint McSally to complete the original McCain term which runs until 2020.

With Martha McSally in the Senate making helpful constructive votes for two years she would have a big leg up to election in 2020.

A Senator McSally would make a sharp contrast to the other Senator from Arizona.

McSally won the nomination because the conservative vote was split by Arpaio. She underperformed in the general, and shouldn’t be rewarded with a free seat.

No, she lost to a candidate who got almost many less votes than the Governor. She’s a disaster, she didn’t even fight the way Rick Scott is with the Shenanigans. Bye

I agree. Also, McSally is only a shade to the right of Sinema. I wonder if low information voters got confused between the two candidates and voted for the wrong one.

No thanks. Kyl is way more conservative than McSally.

Sounds like a plan. Is it legal? Maybe so. Is McSally the best choice to take over from Kyl? Maybe not. But appoint somebody conservative, very very conservative, and young enough to be a viable candidate to run on their own in 2020... and 2026.

Could be. Two women running may have confused some.

Better yet just have the Senate refuse to seat Sinema and seat McSally instead.

There must be a few better conservatives in AZ than either Kyl or Martha. I can’t think of any, though. Is J.D. Hayworth still alive?

if they appoint anyone, it should be a conservative. McSally is not that person

She ought to get the seat she rightly won — and a staunch conservative/MAGA replacement ought to be named to follow Kyle.

Well, Kyl said he just wanted to be a place holder right? So in that case McSally would need re-elected in 2020 or 2022. When was Mclame last elected? 2014 or 2016. Not in AZ so am unsure.

Disagree. Ducey should appoint the most conservative person he can find. Some one who can easily be re-elected in 2920. Mc Sally might be a good person but she can not connect with the voters. We lost that seat because she did not connect and a phony woman who is close to being a communist was elected instead.

Absolutely not. If she couldn’t defeat that character, how can she win in another election?

Her background is admirable. Her political skills clearly aren’t. My understanding is every other Republican on the ballot was able to win in Maricopa County except for her. Ridiculous.

Yes, there was probably BS and fraud. But aren’t there better options in Arizona? She should’ve won this race going away.

Disagree.

Why in the world would it be advisable to appoint McSally to the Senate when she couldn’t win a Senate campaign against a Leftist candidate like Sinema??? That would pretty much guarantee a loss of that Senate seat in the next election.

McSally was a weak, moderate candidate. Got 51% of the vote in the primary. We ought to be able to find SOMEONE better than her to appoint.

McSally is the best way to go and I don’t give a damn if she is a shade this or a shade that.....she’s a 100% military dynamo and we need her.....
