When social media mobs start yowling for blood because they don’t like a joke you told or they’re offended by some common sentiment you utter, the first thought you may have is, “If I apologize, maybe all of this will go away.” Unfortunately, that is not how it works. To the contrary, an apology is taken as an admission of guilt and evidence that their pressure is working. It’s not about getting an apology for these people; it’s about people with meaningless lives getting a sense of accomplishment by punishing you. Don’t give them the satisfaction. The people who do the best in these situations are inevitably the ones who don’t apologize, aren’t ashamed, and don’t back up one inch.

Social media mobs are made up of outrage junkies. For them, attempting to deal out punishment to someone online lifts their mood and gives meaning to their pointless lives. They don’t care about being fair, about your perspective, or about trying to reach some kind of mutually beneficial understanding. They want to ritually flog you and they expect to take joy in your suffering. The more you suffer, the better they like it. Debate is not suffering. Explaining your thinking is not suffering. Having a discussion with other humans requires a certain amount of good faith that they were are willing to listen, respect your opinion, and change their minds. That’s highly unlikely to happen with members of a social outrage mob. Mute them, block them, or even tell them to screw off if you like, but you’re probably wasting your time trying to have a rational conversation with these people.

Ridicule was their idea and it has proven devastating to them.
He then moved two lanes to the left as he was turning. I kept my eyes forward and head straight ahead. Out of the corner of my eye he kept giving me the finger (waving frantically to get me to react) but I completely ignored his presence.

Some guy logged my complete argument with him and sent it to my principal and every board member in my district.
The problem is, I reasoned calmly while he called me every curse word in the book.
My principal and I had a nice laugh. He sent the guy an email saying thank you for your input, but no action will be taken.
I’m sure for the next week that guy was ripping down his wallpaper and eating it in rage.
Always be armed, with at least one extra magazine or speedloader. Even in your home. Pray you never need it.
Don’t do social media. That’s my solution.
I learned as a high school teacher that the best way to untangle fights is to distract, and the best distraction is to ask questions.
One that works great was, “Do you know who I am?” If forces them to consider who they’re dealing with in the context of consequence. Another that worked wonders was, “What’d you have for breakfast? Are you Cheerios or Lucky Charms?” (Seriously!) Challenging them to respond to a question always created a pause, if not stopped the fight altogether.
Looking at that video of the ahole who accosted a woman with a NYPD hat, I see that she responded with absolutes, which her attacker then dismissed and escalated with another accusation. She might better have deflected him by questioning his own accusations, which would immediately throw him on the defense.

Yes...five ways, but there is a sixth, the most important of them all, and that is recognizing what the mobs ultimately really represent. That representation is readily identified as the evidence is in plain sight and has been since the second World War with the linkage of the Muslim Brotherhood with Democratic Socialist Nazi Germany.
The article notes the mindset of the now common social media mostly paid (think Soros $18B at work worldside) mobs lucidly.
The problem is the Democrat party and its failed socialized ideas (Einstein’s sanity statement regarding the repeat of the same process and expecting different results) which are originated from Marxism and the evolutionary “isms” contained within liberalism today (not our fathers’ liberalism), all quite European,and, destructively, not related in any way to the Constitutional Republic we have inherited, is nevertheless becoming penetratively successful in imminently dangerous ways.
As with Islam which is officially and rampantly emergently incorporated into the Democrat Party with about 100 Muslim candidates for office facing election in a couple of weeks, the Democrats are on a totalitarian offensive, and the uniting of Mohammed with Marx (”M&M”) in the Democrat and European political systems should be recognized as the most deadly and evil combination for implementation of totalitarian rule (not governance) in history.
This massive historical milestone (Mohammed plus Marx) has been driven to immediate prominence in only 17 years since 9/11 world-wide, Islam’s Muslim Brotherhood “M&M” gate opener pointedly associated with Saudi Arabia as is the “Khashoggi hit” representing another manifestation of the Saudi/Muslim Brotherhood inter-Islamic conflict of global proportion. The Islam of the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islam of ISIS, the Saudi Royal Family, Shiite Islam are effectively all the SAME, and now it this Muslim conglomerate is incorporated as the union of Mohammed and Marx in the Democrat Party, which acts as an extremely effective Trojan Horse for Islam’s massive penetration with massive effects developing to an apical crisis, and soon.
Electing Trump was on the first shot, the first indication that at least one out of five US voters are smart enough to suspect and even identify what today’s Democrat Party really represents at its core. “It’s M&M Time” at the Democrat Party and the media has no clue, but the the media represent the Dem Party does it not? Not even Hannity will touch the reality of the combination of Mohammed and Marx representing the core of the Democrat Party of today. Think about it.
My comment is the sixth point in recognizing the intent and nature of socialist media mobs, and it is the MOST IMPORTANT POINT, and it is effectively denied, ignored, withini a suicide bound disinformed electorate. Understanding what “M&M” means is the beginning of potential survival of actually, Western civilization. Trump’s election offers the first possibility of understanding what Trump, the US and the world are really up against. Think about it.
