I still remain skeptical of any minor or massive shift in black support for any GOP candidate in a general election. Even Trump. Voicing “approval” isn’t the same as pulling the lever for a candidate. Blacks, like most Jews, are terminally Democrat.
Keep in mind that most blacks are working class, and neither party has done anything to try to help the working class going all the way back to when the Civil Rights Act was passed. So basically, it was the Jim Crow Democrats who did more to help the working class than the SJW Democrats. So this whole five decade period that the Democrats have been trying to use issues like racism, sexism, environmentalism, and homophobia to divide the country, the working class, including the overwhelming majority of blacks and Hispanics have not had either party trying to improve their economic fortunes.
And don’t forget that it was FDR creating jobs for blacks during his Public Works program that got blacks to defect to the Democrats after they had been loyal to the Republicans going back to the Civil War. So if anything will get them to switch parties it’s jobs..... Nixon did okay with blacks in his second term because black unemployment went down during his first term.
There is a major ring of truth to what you say. Many will be harraunged by their circle of friends, preachers and the like and returned to their old habits much as a dog returns to its vomit or a sow to her wallowing in the mire. But not all will. As recently as 1972, over one fifth voted GOP in presidential elections. It could happen again and for the same general reasons.
