One of the striking things about Canada and the UK that I noticed during travels in between the 1970’s and 1990’s was how vastly superior their daily newspapers were to American products. The difference was embarrassing. The New York Times, political bias aside, was mostly drivel. The Washington Post, maybe a tad better. The Globe, a joke. Now that the internet has made distribution a non factor, and papers like the Daily Mail have decent U.S. coverage, American newspapers of national events is largely irrelevant.
