Yeah D-Day was a big failure. You surely know that. Hitler was a worse "field commander". If Rommel were allowed to do what he wanted and the sea conditions different, D-Day would be a bloodbath and the Allies would never breach beyond the beaches and be repelled back to the sea. This is why Ike had a backup failure letter.
