“Arguably, due to their importance, overwhelming market power, and near monopoly status, they may even deserve to be treated as banks, railroads, or utilities and made subject to routine oversight by a primary regulator.”

It brings up something interesting. Going back to the old days, before internet, what would have been the reaction if AT&T simply disconnected the phone lines of JFK and all other Democrats, because they didn’t like their politics?

Scary thought...but this is the equivalent.

Excellent point. I note that in your example, JFK and the Democrats would have acted in a determined and definitive fashion to protect themselves without letting any doctrinal quibbles restrain or delay them. In contrast, conservatives and Republicans seem perplexed as to what to do and uncertain if there is any justification for defending their interests and rights.

As a general rule, the Left abandons all pacifist sentiment to defend itself, while the supposed warmonger Right seems willing to roll over and die when its rights and interests are under assault by businessmen. Trump, of course, is a magnificent exception and fights even when conservatives prefer to flee battle like the French Army did when they were up against against invading Nazi tanks.

Trump, of course, is a magnificent exception. We cannot do without the man: he fights.
