North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is reportedly anxious about his summit with President Donald Trump set to take place in Singapore next month. •Kim is said to be worried about a military coup or other hostile actors who might try to depose him while he's away.

Citing sources familiar with the preparations, The Washington Post reported Tuesday that Kim was less concerned about meeting Trump than he was about what might happen at home in Pyongyang while he's gone.
Kim is apparently concerned that the trip to Singapore may leave his government vulnerable to a military coup or that other hostile actors might try to depose him, sources told The Post. The Kim dynasty has ruled North Korea since the country's inception following the armistice in 1953.
Rumors of a simmering military revolt in North Korea are precisely the kind of thing that emboldened Kim to keep a tight grip on power over the years, according to some experts....

Hostile actors have been trying to depose President Trump whether he’s in the country or away. Are the NORK bad actors worse?
That is why he will give up his nukes. He actually needs Trump to prevent a coup.
IF TRUE , this would support some FREEPERS postulation that Kim Jong Un wants to be part of the (so called) Free World and not it’s scapegoat. But his Military don’t want that as then they won’t have jobs, and those without government jobs don’t eat.

The entire country is under arrest.
They are all brainwashed from birth to believe that members of the Kim family are literally deities. Citizens of the DPRK can be sent to prison for not keeping the mandatory portraits of Kim Jong Un's father and grandfather (that hang in every home and public place) sufficiently tidy, or for blocking the audio that plays from the government radio that is in every home.
The DPRK spends a fantastic part of its GDP maintaining the Kim family cult of personality. It's amazing that even with all that, Kim Jong Un is afraid he'll lose control if he leaves for a day or two.

An honest question - what would the optics be like if Trump were to go to NK and hold the summit there? I can just see him towering over all the old men with the flying-nun army hats. Would the old men have their notepads out when Trump was speaking?
