A trillion bucks and 4k troops later what have we gained? We didn't have fracking back then and the enviro-nuts wouldn't let us drill. We learned nothing from the Russian Afghanistan experience and we're still there. Is it too late to get out? I say take out Assad, establish a Kurdistan, build a safe zone Trump promised and get the hell out. Maybe give the Ayatollas a punch in the nose-we owe them. We got our own oil. Let them kill each other. The lefties had it right with the no blood for oil.

The first gulf war wasn’t too bad, but it was certainly a camel’s nose under a tent and later justified clinton’s involvement in Yugoslavia.
With 20-20 hindsight you are probably right.
Before the invasion, Saddam was told by US Ambassidor April Glaspie that the US had no interest in Saddam’s claims aagainst Kuwait.
You are one self-conflicted individual! You kvetch about the Iraq War and then demand we overthrow Assad in Syria.
Good grief.
Vanities. All is vanity.
The only good thing that resulted from the invasion of Iraq was that Jeb Bush was less popular than ISIS among American voters by the time the 2016 primaries started.
Playing Russian roulette is idiotic, but let's do it with two bullets in the gun instead of one.
WTF?
Sadaam was a bad man, but he is no where near as evil as the Bush family are.
Saddam Hussein was par for the course in the Arab world.
BS.
There’s no way to know that would have worked out better.
The other thing was casualties. Everyone was impressed with the fact we were able to do our job with as few casualties as we had. But for the 146 Americans killed in action, and for their families it wasnt a cheap war. And the question for the president, in terms of whether or not we went on to Baghdad, took additional casualties in an effort to get Saddam Hussein, was how many additional dead Americans is Saddam worth? Our judgment was, not very many, and I think we got it right.
-- Dick Cheney, former U.S. Secretary of Defense, 4/15/94
For this same pr!ck to turn around in 2002-03 and push for a U.S. invasion of Iraq is an 'effing travesty. I despise this man even more than I despise John McCain ... and that's saying a lot.
No way. I voted for Donald Trump because I want the days of the U.S. engaging in major military campaigns halfway around the world for the benefit of Saudi and Kuwaiti real estate investment partners of the Bush family to come to an end.
Everyone forgets about the attack on the USS Stark.
The idea that the U.S. would spend even one dollar and risk one life to restore one Islamic royal family in Kuwait and protect another one in Saudi Arabia should be f#%&ing repulsive to any patriotic American.
Somebody should start a similar thread about George H. W. Bush getting us involved in Somalia on his way out of the White House door. Now we are flooded with Somalian welfare bums in our cities. Thanks George!
Obama should not have violated the agreement we had with Libya after Gadhafi got rid on his nukes. Obama should not have tried to overthrow Assad. Obama should not have tried to install the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
That is certainly one school of thought. They let Hitler take Czechoslovakia and Austria. Maybe we should have not objected to his taking Poland, France and the little countries. The Brits could’ve negotiated peace terms with Herr Hitler and let the Germans and Russians fight it out. I’m sure the Brits would not have minded being a Nazi puppet state. Likewise, we could have let Japan build their Asian empire and Mussolini build his new Roman empire. We’d still be secure in the Americas with mass-murdering dictators running the rest of the world. Oops, I guess Canada would follow the Brits to go with the Nazis and Japan would get New Zealand and Australia. Hitler and Mussolini could divvie up Africa and the middle east. And the Nazis would start making inroads down in South America and were already working on treaties with Mexico with an eye toward taking California, Arizona and Texas. No sweat. They won’t bother the rest of our states.
