Being a woman has helped me, on the experienced side.

I had 15 years.

Then I quit to have my son.

Starting some 5 years later, lots of damn on-line applications, some interviews including my old company, of varying intensity, and ZERO job offers.

Yeah, that worked real well, being a woman. Got me the interviews maybe, but not the job.

Got me the interviews maybe, but not the job.

Sorry to her that, but 5 years out of the work force is a long time. In my field of Electrical Engineering, it has change so much in 5 years that I would need new training to get up to speed after 5 years. You will probably need to start at the bottom again. And I guarantee you that the company I work for, Broadcom, would hire you if you are an Electrical Engineer.
