In 1980, the minimum wage was $3.10 per hour, which equates to $9.94 in today’s inflation-adjusted dollars.

The big caveat to that is - you have to trust the Government's inflation statistics. Many people do not.

The government has changed the definition of inflation several times since 1980, always gaming it to reduce the number. Real inflation is far higher than the government's number.
