Saiga-12 Full Auto shotgun
Am Shooting Journal ^ | 4/11/2018 | J Hines

Usually firearms fall into three categories.
First there are work guns for the public servant, hunter or for personal defense to protect your yourself and others or to feed your family.
Next are fun guns for plinking or use for competition.

Finally, there is a category for collecting unique guns that will turn heads at the range and for no other reason than to say that you own one.
The Saiga-12 shotgun is one of those that could be in the personal defense department, but with it being a full automatic. This changes everything, this baby is in all categories.

Think the biggest thing about this Saiga being full automatic is just pure fun of shooting it, we all love things that goes full auto.
On the serious side of caliber the Saiga delivers 00 buckshot pellets and it comes with 30 round drum.

Or another way to look at it is.
If you have one shot with nine buckshot pellets, then a full-auto burst of 30 shots will yield an explosive 270 hits.
That is some serious firepower for close quarter that packs a punch. See the full Saiga-12 full auto shotgun video here.

Neat, BUT kinda rough on the old shoulder. Our rotator cuff tear is enough for me, thank you.

I personally think a revised M12 (these came in 16 or 20 gauge) with magazines for faster reload would be plenty sexy.

Why post this? You can’t legally have one.

Fun, but haven’t semi-auto Saiga and VEPR Molot imports been stopped? Prices are going nuts. I’d much rather have one of these than the plastic-fantastic pump ones like the KSG.

No AK-based shotguns for you, proles!

Sooo, being a post ‘86 class 3 weapon, only law enforcement departments and officers can obtain and posses these “street sweepers”. What does any department need anything like this or even any FA weapons other than rifles or carbines for? Killing the masses?

ooops, I should shush...

What he said

They're too late for the Hughes Amendment list. Us regular Joes don't get access to the fun switch with new firearms, and all the high-speed, low drag "operators" can go pound sand.

In a sane world, riots are an opportunity to cull the worst of the population.

Hmmm. You do know who the ‘gubbermint” likes and dislikes, don’t you? It aint the “gibmedats” and “occupy ___ streeters”. If it were, they would be a blip on the radar screen of memory. They are not, so who is it the state is afraid of?

Read the DOI lately?

No AK-based shotguns for you, proles!

Kalashnikov USA is producing its own domestically-built version of that design now. Do a web search for KS-12.

All I can think of is all the drywall that would need to be repaired in a home defense situation. Semi auto with a drum seems more prudent.

Recoil and “sexy” ... heh, brings back a silly memory.

Some years ago over at Hannity one fellow said his shotgun put his wife on her butt. Humorously I posted back that shooting was certainly an unusual sort of foreplay but whatever worked for them.

Belt feed. If it’ll take a drum it might be made to take a belt. May take some effort to get it right though.
