California's Exploding Homeless Population Result of Failed Democrat Policies
Canada Free Press ^ | 02/27/18 | Katy Grimes

Posted on 02/27/2018 7:32:58 AM PST by Sean_Anthony

What is behind the explosion of drug addicted, criminal, and mentally ill homeless on California's streets?

Democrat policies and politics going all the way up the ladder to California Gov. Jerry Brown and the California Legislature, on up to the Obama administration, and the Obama-Holder prison reform program which subverted the law as well as Congress.

The so-called reforms succeeded in promoting crime by decriminalizing many crimes, and reclassifying violent crimes as “non-violent.” Gov. Jerry Brown’s A.B. 109, “realigned” California’s overcrowded prison system, shifting responsibility of repeat, newly classified “nonviolent” offenders from state prisons to county jails. Those released were assigned county probation officers rather than state parole officers. Those newly “non-violent” criminals let out of county jails due to overcrowding are living on the streets, living on our parkways, rivers, and canals, and using the streets as their toilets.

Every red state should pay the transportation of their homeless to sunny, warm, generous, and inviting California.

You can’t label something a failure or success without knowing the goals.

Until Dems change their policies, I assume they are on track toward their goals - it may look like a failure to most of us but it’s part of their long term plan and they are making progress.

I drove through Oakland yesterday and Ho Lee Kaw!!!

In one section there must have over 40 brand new tents setup. These were big enough to sleep four people .

How did that many people, on the same spot, have brand new tents that are bigger than what I use?

/S

>>How did that many people, on the same spot, have brand new tents that are bigger than what I use?<<

Conservative solution: Make them productive and put them to work.

liberal solution: Better Tents!!!

NYC is doing the same thing, with the same result. Zillions of “hotels” are being built in clearly non-tourist areas and then, after a few months of operation, voila-—they turn into a homeless shelter which hauls in a whole lot more money from the city than a hotel ever did. Blighting block after block. Who would have thought there were that many homeless? Ah, but NYC has a suckers law which states we must provide shelter for all who claim they need it, with the consequence that every bum, druggie, and illegal is moving here to get put up by us, the NYC taxpayers. So homeless shelters are popping up like mushrooms here, degrading neighborhood after neighborhood with the lowest of the low.

Strange-—a colder climate than Maricopa County, Arizona buys tents & puts them up for the homeless with taxpayer $$$$$, and the same people think that Sheriff Joe Arpaio putting prisoners into tents in MUCH warmer Arizona is wrong.

Joe bought military surplus tents, and he fed oatmeal, PB & J sandwiches, etc. He dyed the men’s underwear PINK so they would not walk out of prison with 8 pairs on their bodies. He got targeted for having ‘chain gangs’-—yes, real chain gangs who broke rocks-—for only the male prisoners.

SOOOO- (you guessed it), Sheriff Joe had women on chain gangs within a day.

I love Sheriff Joe. Between him & Sheriff David Clarke, we certainly could use clones of both of them.

He also saved Maricopa County $$$ by folding the Animal Control facilities into the Sheriff’s department. The most trusted prisoners took care of the animals in the shelters while they were in custody.

NO labor costs—NO union benefits-—a real win-win-win-win, etc. IIRC, those who were on such animal shelter details were very low in recidivism rates.

They have homeless illegals in California. They also have homeless mentally ill who could not function no matter what their government did. The third group is homeless people who are priced out of housing by supply and demand - so many illegals living 5 families to a home/apartment that a legal blue collar family cannot afford a home. That last group makes me angry at the corrupt leftist thugs who control California and don’t care about our fellow Americans. Liberals disgust me.

If they have not eaten zoo animals and Woolly Mammoth remains, they have not yet succeeded.

I have family in Phoenix. They went to a parade and saw floats and stuff. They were towards the end of the parade. They began to hear a slight roar that got increasingly louder. When the roar was the loudest they saw what the cause was. Sheriff Joe was on a float and everyone was cheering him very loudly.

Make them productive and put them to work.

Bums won't work.

When I was a kid there were no “homeless”. There were bums and derelicts and they mostly slept in one room “hotels” or other types of flop houses. Now and then the cops would find a bum sleeping in an ally. The cop would call for the Paddy wagon and the bum would be taken to the drunk tank for the night. It worked very well.

Bum’s don’t care. They hit up the most gullible among us for their substance.

There’s a turn-out not far from here where a squad of bums collects probably a hundred or more dollars per day while traffic there is stopped for the lights.

One of my neighbors fancies herself a caretaker to bums, and makes several trips a day down the street bringing them money and food.

Au contraire.
CA’s exploding homeless population is a resounding success - to the Left.
It’s a naturally temperate climate (at least within a couple miles of the coast), so little more than a tent is needed to remain mostly comfortable.
The gov’t siphons $$$millions in surplus revenue from the productive (thanks, Silicon Valley types and insane real estate investors), and is practically implementing a “universal basic income” (they just haven’t unified it yet, but won’t because...).
The bureaucracy required to support the burgeoning homeless population is massive & growing, thanks to the plethora & complexity of welfare services (for want of a single-check UBI) - an enormous success for the socialistic government.
The concentration of basic public-access services (food, laundry, medical, etc) keeps everything practically within walking distance.
Illegal immigrants find themselves stuck in this system, unable to work/vote legitimately so they have to expand the illegal work/vote black market, creating more dependency & supporting the bureaucracy.
Ergo, it’s a socialistic success: the “rich” bring in more $ than they could possibly need, with a large fraction skimmed off of either direct income or high-price goods/services sustaining them; the “poor” live in relative (to other world poor) comfort, with a vast array of basics & perks paid for; in between is a massive gov’t bureaucracy keeping many comfortably employed and in power. Sounds like a win for the Left.

...at least until the next plague-level epidemic sweeps thru (having to bleach sidewalks in hazmat suits should be a red flag), the un-assimilated rise up to take control of what they consider their country, and/or the rich take their money & run before being crushed by rising prices and confiscatory taxation. Popcorn?

The attraction of CA is that so long as you have free $ for cheap food & laundry, you can actually get by quite well in just a tent - no need for the overhead expenses of residing in an actual building, all you need is about 100 sq ft of lawn or forest.
