Enemies Of Enlightenment

When many people think about the ongoing culture war in the Western world, they often think of it as a war between left and right, or between liberals and conservatives. As the political environment becomes more complex, these traditional labels lose more relevance. The line between the two major political movements has blurred, which means someone that may have been a political foe in the past may be an ally today. This change is due to the large increase of political polarization we've seen over the past several years.

A portion of the right has gone so far right that it has alienated many moderate and libertarian conservatives. This far right movement is based on ideas such as white supremacy, ethno-nationalism and authoritarianism. One of their leaders, Richard Spencer, even advocates for socialism. The far right's love for identity politics and restrictive economic policies makes them more like today's leftists.

Three lies for the price of one. And who designated this Spencer one of our "leaders"? That's four.

Anyone Spencer is “leading” is such a small faction as to be statistically insignificant. And if he’s a socialist he is not “right wing” in the American sense of the word, he’s just a leftist, and they are the same the world over.

Wasn’t he also an “Occupy” dude?

Excellent comment in the article:

“The Enlightenment was a philosophical movement in the 18th century that came on the back of the Scientific Revolution. Some of the ideals that sprang out of The Enlightenment were reason, liberty, progress, tolerance, constitutional government, market economies and the separation of church and state. This movement valued the discovery of truth through free speech and free thought, which is why Enlightenment philosophers stressed the importance of individual autonomy rather than tribes, religions and political authority. These ideals eventually spread throughout the Western world and laid the groundwork for the freedom and prosperity that many people take for granted today.

The Enlightenment’s greatest success story came in the form of the United States of America. These ideals can be clearly observed in the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence. If you live in the west – especially America — you are lucky to have had philosophers and founders that understood the importance of personal freedom and other Enlightenment principles. The US has become one of the freest and the most prosperous country as a result.”

People can not grow and reach “Enlightenment” unless they are “FREE.”

Eeeek. The Enlightenment errors culminated in the French Revolution of license chaos and the guillotine. The ideas of the Enlightenment belong in the enemies’ camp for the most part.

The war is between the left as the author describes it plus the Enlightenment and the Burkean Natural law thread back to and before Aquinas; the basis of our Constitution.

Spencer was an Occupuke dude, plus he had a contract with “The Atlantic” to write or produce a film (can’t remember which) about “racism”.

He’s nothing but a nasty agent provocateur. Lables of “left/right” are at this point total bulls***.

He’s a pinko commiepuke.

That statement is not entirely true. The fruits of the Enlightenment were in many ways destructive.

The “enlightenment” is the source of most of our problems.

Actually it might have been that other dude who was an Occupuke; the other one in Charlotteville whose name escapes me. Another “white nationalist” group.

Richard Spencer was an occupy guy and is a national socilalist... Antifa likes to call him far right because antifa in Europe is really Communist and considered to the left of the socialists...Antifa losers in North America have been using the same strategy here to lump the white superemacist national socialists in with our right / conservatives by calling us all the far / alt right... it is a lie and they know it... they are looking for a war/revolt becuase Communists can only gain power in the context of a struggle or Revolution... once they gain power, they die off because their ideas are stupid and don’t work...but their message leading up to the Revolution is compelling to some young people who don’t / won’t read or learn from History...so in this way Antifa is a real danger and should be treated as such.

“That statement is not entirely true. The fruits of the Enlightenment were in many ways destructive.”

In order to reach enlightenment, you must let go of the old in order to make room for the new. Thus the Christian concept of “dying daily.” In Buddhism this same concept is referred to as attaining “no-self.”

It’s the reason for the parable concerning placing new wine in an old wineskin. You need to get rid of the old. (If we are full of ourselves we have no room for God)

For the same reason that the Quakers and Shakers earned their name, when the Holy Spirit moves in it is uncomfortable to the extent a person tried to hold on to the old and it is pushed out. This will also cause severe depression. It’s often very hard letting go of the old, especially when we have formed our identity around it.

My statement about being free as a requirement to grow toward enlightenment is that if you are in a legalistic dependency environment where you surrender your will to another human being or the government, you do not have the authority or free will to surrender within to God. You can’t have two gods at the same time.

The major painful fruit of enlightenment is the depression you experience by becoming re-attached to earthly matters after experiencing the bliss of enlightenment. It’s like losing your greatest Love and is very painful. It is very difficult straddling the fence of both realities at the same time.

For the same reason that spiritual growth is often referred to as the “refining fire” as in the process of removing impurities to render pure gold, the fire of the Holy Spirit works to remove the impurities of fear, anger, guilt.... from your soul. This process renders much heat during the transformation process. This is where the concept (truth) of the “burn in hell” statement originated. It was also the reason for burning witches at the stake as if their mystical abilities were of the Holy Spirit it was believed that the fire would not harm them, just as it did not harm Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego when they were thrown into the furnace.

We are having global warming on the earth, but not for the reason most think. It is due to the increased presence of the Holy Spirit on earth as we enter these wonderful but troubling soul growth period. We are entering a period of fire. That is why the “weeds will be burned” at harvest time.

“The “enlightenment” is the source of most of our problems.”

It’s a matter of perspective. Enlightenment is also the source of our most wonderful blessings.

Enlightenment is kind of like learning to ride with the stream’s current where ever it takes you rather than constantly trying to swim upstream.
