Hello all. I haven't used Skype in about two years. I just downloaded the app to my new-ish tablet and put in my old handle (username) -- but Skype didn't recognize it. So, I tried to login with the email associated with my account -- and this time, the login worked.

Did Microsoft make some change to Skype in the last two years, eliminating the use of usernames? If so, this is annoying, as my username is what I've been putting on my resume for the last year.

Thanks all.

Resumes that have been out for two years are in a landfill.

If someone is going to interview you, you can discuss Skype.

Yes microsoft bought skype and wants you to use you real name and you will lose your old profile.. then they will roll it into pffice and make you pay a subscription for it. Might as well switch to what’s app and zoom now

Actually, (1) I just figured it out, and (2) there was indeed a contact from a job recruiter waiting for me.

The figuring it out: even though I used upper and lower case letters when I created the account, Skype will not accept the login like that. When I typed the handle in all lowercase, it recognized me just fine.

So: problem solved. Thanks all!

Microsoft did something with Skype and I went through something like you’re experiencing not too long ago. I don’t even remember how I resolved it but I’m pretty sure the answer was not in the main Microsoft help. I think it had something to do with MS trying to combine everything on my computer.

“When I typed the handle in all lowercase, it recognized me just fine.”

MS sux as badly as Apple, they want you to turn your whole life over to them - or at least all your info.

As for passwords, many usually require at least one capital and a number in the mix these day. Often they also want you to toss in a symbol.

If your resume’s been out there for a year without any bites then it’s time to change your resume.

Sorry about the snark but it’s true.

That's not what I wrote. Not even implied.
