GOP Tax Reform: Leave No Taxpayer Behind
Canada Free Press ^ | 11/16/17 | Katy Grimes

Elimination of the State and Local Tax deduction will harm the people of high-tax California, high-tax New York, high-tax New Jersey, and high-tax Illinois

Many California Republicans are excited about the federal GOP tax reform bill and anxious for tax relief, but others are warning about the negative impacts on individual taxpayers in high tax states like California and New York.

I spoke with California’s Congressman Tom McClintock this week to drill down into the corporate and personal aspects of the tax reform bill, to understand the nitty-gritty.

California is presently gaming the tax code so badly that I see no way to avoid y’all taking a hit from a fairer tax code.
But it shouldn’t be a dramatic hit for a middle income type!

Have hope. There’s still Senate and conference to go through.

Your projection complex is extreme; get help.

Your posts are filled with puerile emotional BS.

Neither JFK's nor Reagan's tax CUTS were befouled with the nonsense that the current messes are.

And unlike you, I wasn't EVER a Democrat. Neither can one be "born a Democrat", as you claim you were.

I’d like to just go on record that I like many kinds, but not all kinds (Brie, (and Limburger, et al.) I’m talkin’ ‘bout U) of cheese, and many well oaked, aged Reds, should any exist anymore.

I still strongly suggest that for at least next year that the current tax structure remain in place with the addition of of a line where the current calculated tax be multiplied by 0.9.

Mostly tax a cut for all Individuals (at least those whose year closely resembles last year’s). Eazy Peezy.

No kidding. Wait until these blue state tax payers (including liberals, who hate taxes) move into low tax states and continue to vote for liberals. This tax bill is just a deduction remover. Any rate lowered now will be raised eventually ...except there will be far less deductions.

I don’t drink a lot of wine, but when I do, it’s a Beaujolais. It’s like eating a fine steak. Mmmmmm.

The Federal budget should not be made a slush fund to soften the impact of state or local taxes.

The nation is $20 trillion in debt and adding to it by letting states push some of their absurd tax burdens on the Federal government is rashly irresponsible to future generations.

Yep - don’t hear much about cutting spending, do we? Nope, just cutting deductions.

Did Forbes tell you the deductions are taken by taxpayers in every state? Did they tell you they are taken in every Congressional district in America?

Perhaps they even neglected to tell you that over 40 million Americans take those deductions.

Maybe even Forbes neglected to inform you that the blue states that most use it are also the states with the highest per capita incomes and that their Federal taxes subsidize the other states.

Of course they didn’t. The Forbes editors are only interested in the corporate tax cuts. Like the Republicans they think the sop they throw to those under $75k/yr...and the welfare class...will be enough for them to dodge the accusation that this is a tax cut “for the rich”.

After all, 80% of the cuts go to Corporations and only 20% to individuals.

The rest of us are picking up the tab to make it “revenue neutral”.

You ignorance on these matters is astounding.

In no way does the Federal budget lessen the impact of SALT. It’s apples and sea urchins.

Neither affects the other in in any way whatsoever.

Because the Federales take less from me at the barrel of a gun, for whatever reason, has no impact on whether the commies in my state take more, or less. Politically they do not care.

And it has no impact on you either.

And the same applies to the state. No matter how much they take it will not affect the Feds.

Your key issue is you want to see those who have more than you, pay more. You want them not only to bear a larger burden than you, you want them to feel pain.

That’s what Social Justice Warriors do.

I could live with this tax increase if they added a rule that states can’t receive more than they pay in taxes. Then all the tax consuming states would have to make up for the lost government handouts, and California would actually have more money to spend, since even with SALT, California gets back 90% of what it pays.

California (I have family there), New York, New Jersey and Illinois...all high tax, strictest gun control states in the union. How did they get that way?

FR doesn't work that way and you need to grow up.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen and whilst you're at it, educate yourself, instead of using the idiotic words that those who are pushing this disaster use.

Those states with high taxes aren't the "parasite states"; those who get more money than they send in are the PARASITES !

Businesses go to where states give them great deals ( no or reduced taxes for years, if not decades and other such "perks" )and some businesses have left high tax states for sunnier climes.

Small businesses in EVERY state are NOT getting much if anything in this mess. OTOH, huge corporations are!

Facts matter and sadly, many here, including you, don't know what you're talking about!
