President Donald Trump said Monday his administration will start to consider reforming the welfare system in the United States, saying that some people are "taking advantage of the system."
The comment comes as the Trump administration struggles to get any sweeping legislation through Congress, despite Republicans controlling both the House and Senate. Trump failed to pass health care reform earlier this year and is currently working -- without much success so far -- to pass tax reform.
"People are taking advantage of the system and then other people aren't receiving what they really need to live and we think it is very unfair to them," said Trump, flanked by Defense Secretary James Mattis and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson during a Cabinet meeting. "Because some people are really taking advantage of our system from that standpoint."(continued)

I agree. Either make it on their own or else into a “camp”. No welfare.
Just to let you know, it is not unusual to see guardians, caregivers, foster parents (in some states), and others (like a friend when the card client is ill) pick up groceries. I did this myself for a family after the mother died. So things aren’t always what they appear.

Things have gotten so bad after 8 years of Obama that the much of the system is predicated on systemic fraud and the people who were the original groups the welfare was intended to help are being frozen out. .

Not when the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is paying $71 Billion per year. The states are more than welcome to be left alone to run Food Stamps...they just have to pay for it themselves.
First, we need to force timely recertification. You go on SS disability using a well paid lawyer, you can stay on the rest of your life. You move in with a boyfriend/girlfriend, but your welfare status won’t change. Have another kid, Bingo.

All of it should be turned over to the states. I'll even support a one-time block grant so states can handle the transition and pay for things like homelessness and mental illness. But once that money is gone, that's it. States would take full responsibility.
Also the stupid EITC should be abolished as well. Friggin' lowlifes getting a refund when they don't even pay taxes.
No ... those who CANNOT work do need help ... those who WILL NOT work need a good swift kick in the backside and off welfare.
THAT is where the difference is for me.
Oh ... and no welfare for immigrants, illegal or otherwise.

I can no longer work (after 43
years in the workforce). I have
a home, a car, a TV...
All earned before I was injured...
And then the Democrats will scream that Trump is "planning genocide against black and brown people!!". I was proposing things that COULD be done WITHOUT giving them an excuse to use that argument.
Who cares if it brings social unrest?
At this point they’ve been stealing for generations to fund their entire families and lives and breed even more people to Hate America.

Welfare is a corporate subsidy funded by the taxpayer to keep the idled workforce in check(with a check) while they close factories and reap huge profits by importing duty(tariff) free. It's all interconnected.
Those that TRULY cannot work deserve assistance. That is what the program was started for in the first place.
Most are padding the system and could work if pressed hard, the system was never intended to last forever and a day as some think.
Well that would be the answer when the matter is investigated.
Go back to what we had under Clinton, who could say no to that?
