The NFL put out a statement on Wednesday denying it had capitulated to President Donald Trump and banned players from kneeling when the National Anthem plays before games.
This remains true, so far as we know, in the abstract. The league has not imposed any formal restrictions. (Yet. There are more meetings planned.) But even as Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones threatened on Sunday to bench any player judged to be "disrespecting the flag," the presidential blitz continues -- and it becomes clearer that the NFL and ESPN's attempts to appease Trump have failed.
ESPN retreated on Monday, suspending SportsCenter host Jemele Hill, who has been critical of Trump on Twitter, following "a second violation of our social media guidelines." The inciting posts came in response to Jones' remarks, when she posited that fans who were dismayed by his statement might be wise to quit lining his pockets. (Hill later added that she was "not advocating a NFL boycott.").....

The left is finally getting hit where it hurts - their pockets. It’s hilarious how fast they turn on each other when they lose a few bucks.
I guess it saves time.
This article gets a lot wrong, as much of the press does. I remember reading weeks ago from some moron (I think at the ComPost) the author proclaiming none of this was affecting ratings (a total lie) and it was a victory for the left. Uh huh.
taking a knee = sitting = staying inside = raising a black panther fist = standing and then doing any of the above.
Disrespect is disrespect.
It sickens me that so many people, on both sides, are willing to put our flag and our country beneath Trump.
Trump had the courage to speak for many tens of millions who hate this leftist garbage and degradation of our great nation. Trump didn’t start it, but he was absolutely right to give a strong voice to all of us.
They were still saying that there was no viewership loss because of the protests even a few days ago-— yet they can’t explain why the favorability /unfavorability of the NFL has dropped 30 percent in two weeks..
From three aspects, the NFL is hurting. First, you got a viewership problem. Second, you got fan paraphernalia which isn’t selling (note, this comes three months before Christmas which would be your big period of the year). Third, you got fans who won’t show up for games, or you have to discount tickets enough to get the stadium somewhat full. Go and forecast for spring/summer period of 2018 on ticket sales, and it’s pretty scary for the 32 franchises.
The journalists can make up any story they desire, but if you cut 20-percent of the viewers, removed 50-percent of the fan paraphernalia sales, and have to discount 2018 tickets by 25-percent....you got a problem A franchise valued at $1.2-billion in 2015...is not worth that amount of money today.
If I were a owner, I’d now be talking to the NFL about this loss of money and where things are going. I’d also look at money available for signing 2018 draft picks and slide it down by a quarter. I might even go and stagnant my contract offerings for players next year and refuse to pay any real money to kneelers.
There’s a non sequitor if I ever saw one!
That is:
SOMETHING TO DO WITH TRUMP => PUTTING OUR FLAG AND OUR COUNTRY BENEATH TRUMP
... as I saw it.
Trump just did as any representative of America should do.
Soon the top news story. Trump Killed American football.
Both sides? Who is suggesting Trump made them disrespect the flag
nope. they wanted to blow it up.
The NFL decision has given conservatives a rare opportunity to take a whack at Black Lives Matter and the manipulations of Obamas collusion with the media.
But the so called pundits are blowing it off. In effect diverting the medias complitity which allowed this racial division diversion created by Obama ro take place.
Obama is still the untouchable and fellow radicals are just laughing at the NFL debacle and praising his political genius because pundits are letting the media divert that direction to cum bye ja and a dozen other directions.
pundits should be citing the racial division created by Obama and the subsequent racial incidents charging them with and asking those bended knee players why they support this ?.
The problem here is refusing to connecting the dots to the democrats who created racial divisuon when Obama through the abuse of his office and the Bully Pulpit began creating victims out of blacks engaged in criminal activities who were not just resisting legal arrest but responding by attacking legal authority and endangering their lives .
Until this get exposed along with its political purposes which was creating racial division and a impeachable proof barrier as the continuing political discourse which has been expanded to include white guilt will continue.
When blame the cops for cold blooded killings started by Obamas use of the Bully Pulpit. It began with his comments during the Zimmerman trial. Those comments inspired at least 10* deadly assaults ending in death of any non black who wandered near or in hoods controlled by members cf black ganags.
One such noteable case is that of Christopher Lane an Australian murdered by Crypts while visiting Duncan Oklahoma.*(At the time the media avoided any reference made to For Trayvon reason given in those murders by the culprits mainly gang members. Of the I think the figure (10)is more like 20 racially inspired murders)
Obama was never held accountable for his inflamatory remarks. And because he wasnt he contunued hammering away creating a wider racial division targeting police authority which resulted in cops being targeted and murdered in cold blood.
IF THIS WAS BROUGHT OUT WHEN NFL GENUFLECTIONS ARE DISCUSSED WATCH HOW FAST IT DISAPPEARS
Bet he’s glad he didn’t buy an NFL team, now.
We can’t depend on a “leader” to do that for us. It’s up to US (A).
