Everyone is missing it here. In the late 80's early 90's Ford spent something like 2 billion on the Duratec Engine development program. With CAD etc the numbers are probably lower now, but this is 1 billion for electric vehicles

That is huge, and another 270 billion here:

And another 1/2 billion to the top 15 or so in VC to the cutting edge battery R & D companies that are talking about batteries with anywhere from 1.5 to 5 the storage capacity.

Even @ 1.5, that would take a Chevy Bolt from 238 miles range to 357 miles. We are almost their, no we are here, we are on the cusp of a powertrain paradigm change and I think I am the only one that sees it.

You should have seen what I saw at the link it was mind-boggling... wwww.evtechexpo.com

Here is one of the latest recipients of more dollars with a solid electrolyte or solid state battery if you will, 1.5 to 3x the density...:https://cleantechnica.com/2017/09/22/a123-systems-puts-money-solid-state-battery-firm-solid-power/

I was at the Detroit Battery Show 2017 last week. I was told there was 10,000 attendees signed up. Double from 2016. Our booth was made smaller to make room for the additional exhibitors.
