I’m sure what you say is true. I only have opinions; you have actual knowledge. It’s a personal preference. I won’t get the flu shot. To avoid getting or spreading the flu, I’ll stay out of situations where it spreads. That’s to the point of being pretty much of a hermit in the winter, doing my necessary errands first thing in the AM before there are many people around.

TOTALLY AGREE! with the DUMBOCARE mandating a triple dose for at risk from children to senior who don’t have the immune system to handle it, it then becomes a disaster.

If you are forced by work to have 1, make sure you get the single dose.

Spent 2 weeks sick as a dog from the last one 4 yrs ago, never getting another one. Got so dehydrated had to have 2 IV Saline units at the ER.

Make sure you listen to anonymous people on the Internet rather than experts.

In that case, keep in mind that the flu virus can persist on surfaces for several hours and take appropriate precautions.

People touch their faces frequently without being aware of it, and the hand-face contact is the major route by which respiratory viruses spread.

I was on a trans-Atlantic cruise about five years ago which was very close to having to declare a Norovirus epidemic. Nobody wanted to be stuck on the ship instead of cruising to the Canary Islands. What they did was implement extreme precautions to stop the virus from spreading. We got the full inter-active education about stopping the spread of flu! All the effort paid off and the cruise itinerary was not impacted.

Hand sanitizers. Remarkably effective.

I understand and appreciate that they do a lot of work to try to protect the most vulnerable. Doesn't mean they don't hype it to be on the safe side - and maybe ensure the market absorbs their costs - there have been a number of warnings of a bad Flu season that never came to fruition.

Doesn't make the hype a bad thing - always better to be safe than sorry.

Don't know why I touched a nerve - wasn't trying to slam anyone, just made an observation. Stay well.

Must have hit another nerve. Per my daughter, they have been seeing a number of folks getting shingles who are younger than the "normal" age range. They believe that it is because the vaccine isn't strong enough to make the body react with the same vigor as actual Chicken Pox does and some folks become more susceptible because the body's defenses haven't been fully triggered.

Don't have studies to link but first hand anecdotal info is sometimes correct.

Sorry you had to suffer the shingles. I had Chicken Pox in the mid '50s and have been fortunate (so far) to not be one of those who also got shingles. I never had the vaccine - your testimony tells me that I won't discount the anecdotal info - how do you know that having the vaccine didn't help trigger the shingles?

Got my first flu shot during the Ford administration.....got sick as a dog for 2 weeks. After many bouts of the flu over several decades, I finally got my second one about 6 years ago and have since continued yearly. So far so good, although like you, I become a bit of a hermit during the winter.

What about the shingles vaccine? I never had chicken pox (that I know of) but was exposed to it when my younger sister contracted it about 1950. A couple of years ago she came down with shingles. A Physician’s Asst. I’m friendly with told me that they consider anyone of my age (72) to have had chicken pox and recommended the shingles shot...which I got. Does it really work?

I don’t measure it, just take a gulp. You can’t take too much SILVER SOL. (ASAP, SILVER BIOTICS, ACTIVZ)

The ACTIVZ 30pp cough drops are more potent than the liquid. It works too.

Vitamin D3...get your levels checked and make sure you are in the 50-80 range. And, quit shaking hands with everyone you meet...sorry, my pet peeve.

“I got shingles because the vaccine cannot cause my body to eradicate virus that has been living inside my nerve cells since 1966. “

Same here, and I had chicken pox in the 40s.

I also test positive when given the TB tine test and I was exposed in the 30s. I never contracted the disease.

Here’s what you need to know about the flu shot. Every year in advance of the flu season the scientists try to guess which mutation of the flu will emerge and come up with a shot. They never get it right. The actual strain that emerges is almost never the one the shot covers. Last year they said the shot gave you a 48% chance of protection. That’s not even 50/50.

Yep. Silver and an elderberry tincture that Mr. GG2 makes up every year.
