Warsaw 1945.
I visited Poland during its COMBLOC years. In the old section of Warsaw many of the shops had large photographs of what their building looked like in 1945. Most were just piles of rubble or shells. But you could find a stoop, or the bottom of a door way and line that up with the rebuilt building to verify it was the same building. They placed the photos so that when you looked at them in the shop window you were were standing at the same angle and left-right lineup from where the original photo was taken. Pretty cool.
