I always go with the Salvation Army. They’ve always seemed to be the most efficient provider of help to those who really need it.

Tip Salvation Army is one of the best. I stopped giving to the Red Cross. During Katrina the RC in New Orleans detoured money to rebuild thier swank offices. The SA lived out of RVs and tents and spent the money helping people first.

From what I have read and heard the Salvation Army is an excellent choice. No agenda but charity, and very little overhead or leakage.

Salvation Army is my go to.

Red Cross and United Way are the worst. They don’t distribute enough money. Worse, Red Cross will always say they have enough money for that disaster and then channel your donation to some other event you did not earmark your donation for. You have no control over your money actually going to the disaster you intended it for with the Red Cross.

Keep in mind that Politics has now penetrated The Salvation Army, they pulled out of planned charity fund raising event at Trump’s Mar a Lago. I will have to rethink them.
