President Donald Trump has decided to end the Obama-era program that grants work permits to undocumented immigrants who arrived in the country as children, according to two sources familiar with his thinking. Senior White House aides huddled Sunday afternoon to discuss the rollout of a decision likely to ignite a political firestorm and fulfill one of the presidents core campaign promises.

In a nod to reservations held by many lawmakers, the White House plans to delay the enforcement of the presidents decision for six months, giving Congress a window to act, according to one White House official. But a senior White House aide said that chief of staff John Kelly, who has been running the West Wing policy process on the issue, thinks Congress shouldve gotten its act together a lot longer ago.

Pres Trump needs to act NOW as any delay will give congress time to do pass something that will lock Trump out of doing anything about DACA.
‘Technically, I wanted @realDonaldTrump to end it 7 months ago. Now that we’re a day away from courts taking it, I wish he’d just pause it.’

First...DACA is illegal on its’ face since there is NO law passed by Congress that establishes it. It was created out of the ether by Obama which makes it executive legislation, otherwise known as tyranny.
Second...Congress DID ACT...the Dream Act legislation was fully debated in both the House and Senate, where IT FAILED TO PASS...anyone who says Congress failed to act is lying.
PING
Were being played - the uniparty wants this and Democrats will push the legislation through and Trump will sign it - that’s why there’s a 6 month delay.
Were boned.
Ending DACA is an important step to MAGA.
If that happens and he signs it it’s effectively the end of his presidency.
Now we have many Republicans saying Congress should have done its job including General Kelly, as if passing an amnesty for dreamers is good thing.
Some are even saying that if Trump ends DACA, then Congress passes an amnesty for dreamers, that it's win/win, that Trump kept his promise and no dreamers have to be deported.
I think any Republicans who believe that have their heads up their rear ends and it would cause a bigger backlash from Trump supporters than any other action, because it is so transparent and so insulting to any who believe that immigration law should be enforced.
From Day 1, ICE has been deporting “dreamers” who DUI or commit any sort of crime (beyond illegally being here in the first place )
I bet this is his negotiating carrot. He wants Tax Reform and the wall more than he wants this, right?
The campaign promise to end DACA on his first day in office could only have been fulfilled by President Trump on his first day in office.
Everything since is just playing politics and backing away from the campaign promise (and listening to too many advisors and cabinet members who disagree with most of his agenda).
Ending DACA with a six month delay and then waiting for Congress to pass a dreamer amnesty, then signing it, would alienate some portion of his base.
No, it’s barely rolling one notch in the ever-leftward-cranking winch of the government. “slowing down the rate of increase”
Not enough.
*rolling back
I agree. This is to give more time to the swamp to undermine the dire need to end DACA and build the wall. Political elites for decades have worked feverishly to undermine the rights and security of citizens to the benefit of outsiders and certain special protected demographics..
I hate being among the half empty crowd but here’s how l see it. This is Kelly’s set up. He’s telling congress to make what Obongo did legal and since he’s doing that Trump will sign it. The only way it won’t happen is if Congress goes full blown Amnesty extends it past the DACA people.
It doesn’t feel like a win to me.
Ending DACA is an important step to MAGA.
With all that he has already done for this country, not a chance. He will give Congress a chance and they will fail. Nowhere near enough votes to pass. The program will end and the blame will be on Congress. He knows what he is doing. I thought he might end the program and then find a way to help those remaining to earn a way to stay legal. We shall see. I trust him to do the right thing for the nation.
Yeah, Trump sucks! He doesn’t ever do anything! I can’t believe I voted for him. He won’t be president for long. /drippy-drippy-sarcasm
